Good video to watch as far as game balance. Also sortof shows the problem Dust has with assault rifles. |

Thats why we have the Mass driver! The problem with this video and its application to Dust 514 is that switching your "tactics" requires heavy SP investment, and thus people are inclined and forced to stick to the same tactic. |

Mass Driver lol The mass driver really has nothing to do with the video. If anything, it's one of the tactics devs expect players to learn instead of sticking with the assault rifle. |

Sure, you just need to give the game about 4 more months before people have enough SP to get out of ARs after they have built up their core skills. Even then... why waste SP in new weapons when they are just gonna get nerfed anyways? |

Their graphs don't actually prove if something is OP either- it just means the average player doesn't try any special tactics to deal with specialist weapons. |

I disagree about the noob tube aka the mass driver/flaylock, grenades fill the new player role anything else is just bad balancing on CCPs part and AR's, ScR, ScP, SMG take skill so if u r complaining about that u should look back at fps games and see whats harder to use
people use AR because its familiar ik that's why I started using it |

If you mean less damage the further from the center the of blast you are, that would make sense. Needs to be rethought, like range falloffs for other weapons- and no more vanishing shrapnel |

id say shotguns r too I seem to get killed by militia shotguns :P but mass drivers and flaylocks r balanced wrong maybe its explosive drop off idk but something is wrong is all (not flaylock as much anymore since it disappeared)
no lavs r a balancing issue not a new player weapon |

Mass Drivers ARE noob tubes. Its just that this punishing SP system isn't showing the metrics for it quite yet as it takes ages for people to settle into speccing it.
Full splash damage out at 6m? Theres no skill in that.
Combine with no skill flux nades that will deplete 100% of shields throughout the ENTIRE blast radius give you a 1 shot on shield tankers and a 2-3 shot on armor tankers?
no skill necessary.
At least with ARs you have to aim. its not easy taking down someone with 600+ EHP in a 1v1 strafe battle with automatic weapons in this game.
With a MD? Oh just have to shoot forward, my 6-8m of splash will take care of the rest.
Most of my kills in PC are with M1 locus nades... care to guess why? Splash damage mechanics are ****** |

It's difficult to hit with them at range, nearly impossible to hit someone above you, you rely on flux grenades (otherwise you'll never get through anyone's shields), and the lack of ammo ties you to a supply depot or limited nanohives. |

Ammo limit is nothing when you have 4 proto nanohives (gauged).
Would love to try it but have to many things I need to spend my precious little SP on first. Unfortunate problem with this game, you pay dearly for trying new things, and mass drivers are probably not an issue until you have proficiency 3 with some ammo cap and rapid reload, which is 1-1.5m SP im not willing to invest in a weapon I know will get nerfed. |

Every weapon has an imaginary "minimum amount of skill" required to be effective with it, and an imaginary "maximum amount of effectiveness" for use by very skilled players. Assault Rifles are F.O.O. weapons- very low minimum skill, but lowish maximum effectiveness. However, there's still room to be better than other players at using it. Mass drivers on the other hand, have a medium minimum skill requirement, and a very high maximum effectiveness. |
