I'd recommend Assault first, as it's much more flexible in terms of fitting, mobility, etc, and the bonus is better in the case of the vanilla ScR and Laser for most purposes. Commando will be tougher to run until you really know how and why to us...

A Laser Rifle with a dedicated support logi. Everybody runs to rep the fatties in CQC, but in the right position, a good logi behind a Laser AmAss (or Mando) can lock many objectives down almost indefinitely (especially in Dom) and farm up crazy WP.
