Having auto-allocation would be fine too, as long as it is an option that can be toggled on / off. There are those that would still like to pool points over time, then spend them at once, so I'd like to leave that ability to do so intact.

Iunno. If it's a weapon / suit / equipment skill, 5 is usually pretty good. Other skills yopu'd need to really think on a bit - like "Do I really need 5% more herp in my derp?".
