I even had a time where I was supporting the tank on my team. There was a nest of AVers focusing on shooting the tank; I snuck up behind them, killed everyone squishier than a heavy, and got the heavies to a point the tank's missiles mopped them up.

Better yet: press square to open up the doors on the ship. The passengers will be able to see where they are, get the hint that it's the signal to drop, and if they don't drop- they're now vulnerable to people who start firing at the ship.
