I agree with hojdar, I'd get "off map" as soon as possible. I'd go sharpshooter 2 and use the SP left over for dropsuit command. At least lvl 2, better at 3. This will get your red dot off the map so you can't be seen for orbitals.

You're doing it wrong. Heavy's protect hackers, you do not hack. If you hack, 75% of the time you die. Heavy's should not be lone wolfing it... no one should. Skill up your passives and get complex shield mods. My type 2 is at about 550 shields ...

A gek with two complex damage mods rips my heavy in two before I can drop them and I can get one shotted by a moded shotgun, so the HMG is fine, just the way it is.

Seeing that your head is within a protective armor helmet, sounds can be auto muffled so permanent ear damage will not happen to your toon. Try putting on ear protectors now and shoot a handgun or rifle, you'll see what a real weapon sounds like w...

I'm rolling packed AV nades on all my heavy's so I can OHK LAV's that try to run me over. Packed AV nades work very well against all tanks. Rule of thumb is, put something between you and the tank, drop a hive, spam packed av nades, tank dies.
