The Apex 'Atlas' vX.1 comes with a Forge gun still and is available from the War Profit pack. tested it out and i couldn't change the weapon to ones i had so if anything it may be a glitch with the HMG BPO but i don't have one to test with

the LR was more unique when its range was 30-100m. the new upclose range is dumb and the max range is starting to out do snipers. thats the least of the issue with LR though. the damage multiplier vs armour is still extremely broken
