You have plenty of slots for any kind of tanking. Use them :) Even I on my heavy with few slots I do dual tanking ... with succes. When CCP include webers or more resists and ammo types this will change. For now dual tanking is valid.

When you got 'waiting for deployment' long enough at squad... just simply go to insta battles, choose one and cancel it. When all squadmates do the same, squad leader can select game again. Most times helps.
