Hi guys,
One the first rule in eve online is dont mix armor & shield in a loadout.
Is this with dust too? playing around with fittings i think it rules with dust too or do disagree
sure you get more hp overall , but it will lack in dps & speed. And you need way more skilling if you want be good at both.
im still checking it out , but like to know how other dust bunnys think about it

If you are heavy firefight focused you can dabble in both shield and armor just fine. |

Difference between eve and dust is how we fight.
In eve someone shows up you both lock each other then start modules the start pewpewpew
In dust doods show up and start shooting.
Maybe once resistances work or we have loads of THINGS that do stuff it wont be feasible. But for now sure why not.
But for now more ehp means moar survivng (not really with some of yhe weapons dmg and accuracy)

It's not currently as imperative to dual tank dropsuits in DUST as it is ships in EVE. it has it's bennefits, but honestly, shields are really the best option untill they release more armor modules. but armor has it's bennefits, such as being able to fit more broken dmg mods. :P but the speed reduction hurts a lot in the FPS world. IMO, the risk outweighs the reward. |

^ Unless someone is using flux grenades, which will instantly drain up to 1200 shield hp if you even have that much. Honestly wish I discovered these things earlier, such a perfect solution to all the shield tankers.
To the OP, in my opinion you need a good balance of both. Some weapons are good against shields, other are good against armor. It would be rather unfortunate to invest all in one type and then run across your kryptonite and be SOL, better to be well rounded for more survivability against an array of weapons you may come across. But of course that's just my opinion, perhaps other rather go all in one and seek out the fights they know they are suited for.

The real differwnce is in bonuses and slot configurations and base shield / armor levels of the ships in Eve ... if a ship has more armor than shield or bo uses to armor reps or more low slots it is oriented towards armor tanking.
We don't have quite the same range of alternative modules or variety of situations like PVE, PVP, or enemies firing different ammo types that do bonus damage to shield or armor, or suits with bonuses to shield resistances or armor repair amounts.
It will all come in time and the dual tank will become less effective in most situations, but for now it's about the best option on both type 1 and type 2 suits.
It can work with the type 1 and armor plates and damage mods or type 2 with shield extenders and rechargers, but until the type 1 and 2 get bonuses there's no reason not to slap plates and extenders on either for the higher hit points. |

Fluxes are beast, but there are ways to minimize their effect.
however, it is advisable, even if shield tanked, to max field mechanics. added armor without the movement penalty is win/win |

Annabandak Dust is different - it actually makes sense to dual tank, if tank is what you're looking for.
The reason is that with the exception of one module, the low-slot sheild regeneration accelerator(sorry forget the name), DUST does not have modules that will support either a sheild or an armor tank from alternate slots. On top of this, there is no capacitor in suits, so there's no competition for those slots.
The punchline is that if your build is doing everything you want it to do, fill up the rest with sheild and armor tank.
For EVE players, it's also worth knowing that sheild regen in DUST is linear. |

thank you for all the comments,
And yes seeing now ther simple too less mods for mid&low slot expect like you sayd the shield regen. and thats how i fit my suits atm. so short current we have a option to be whole shield and still have a nice tank
Geuss armor needs more mid slots :)

You have plenty of slots for any kind of tanking. Use them :) Even I on my heavy with few slots I do dual tanking ... with succes.
When CCP include webers or more resists and ammo types this will change. For now dual tanking is valid. |

damage mods are overrated in dust.
anyway, we dont have racial slot layout, racial resistances, resistance mods for suits and boni on suits yet, so in short fitting both shields and plates makes sense currently. |
