Maybe not destroy or take control of....but maybe disrupt. Lore-wise it could be like a small force raiding a ship to stop the guns from raining hell on their buddies on the ground, but not strong enough to take on the entire ship's security force...

IMO there should be a "Sell to the house" kind of deal, where you can delete an item from your inventory for a small sum of ISK. Every little bit counts!
