This happens to me as well. Haven't had a hard freeze like this on a game aside from Dust for quite awhile. It would be great to know how to avoid this happening with Dust in the future.

Update #2: I have not yet encountered this issue since the extended downtime/hotfix deployment yesterday. *fingers crossed* Maybe it fixed both bugs.

Update, I've just had my first Objective based 1v1 game. It's possible these are unrelated bugs but since the single kill matches tend to be low player count more often than they're full (and since this bug started at the same time as the other)...
