I have had several matches tonight, with player populations ranging from full to 1v2, in which the match ends after a single kill is logged.
I have no further information regarding the cause but wanted to report this bug.
Additionally anyone who's encountered this bug please post here (and of course include as much information about is as you're able).

I've had this bug too. It seems that I am being added to matches shortly before the time runs out. This needs to be fixed ASAP. |

Update, I've just had my first Objective based 1v1 game. It's possible these are unrelated bugs but since the single kill matches tend to be low player count more often than they're full (and since this bug started at the same time as the other) I'm posing in case they're connected.
Was deployed into a 1v1 Objectives match (map with 5 objectives and a city in the middle). It ran it's full course with only the two of us no others joining or leaving the game. Beyond the 1v1 status the game behaved more or less normally, and concluded with the destruction of the enemy MCC. |

I had one of these wonderful 1 kill matches last night as well. I was squaded up with one other. We had just spent the last 10 minutes trying to get into a match instead of getting "the match is no longer active" message. I can't say that it was actually one kill, but the match was less than a minute long. Everyone I saw was 0/0, but i will admit i was frustrated and didn't look at both sides.
It makes me wonder if we'll hear a lot more report this one. It could be the underlying cause of why there was so much difficulty getting matches last night. The server might have been diligently filling games that only lasted a minute or less and taxed its little cpu. |

This seems to happen very often just after the SP modifier is reset at 1 AM UK time, ( GMT + 1).
There also seems to be a massive wait searching for battles at around this time. In general the battle servers just go a bit nuts. |

Update #2: I have not yet encountered this issue since the extended downtime/hotfix deployment yesterday. *fingers crossed* Maybe it fixed both bugs. |

From what i've seen these 1 kill games AKA ghost games, are when a battle starts with a few people who leave, the server continues to run the game and the timer ticks down, when another game ends and ppl queue again they sometimes end up in these games, which will look fresh but the time is at 0 and the first kill breaks the tie and ends the match. I've only seen this happening with ambush games, i'd presume that in skirmish mode the MCCs get destroyed. |

So perhaps it's more of a matchmaking problem than an out and out bug?
I still wonder tho' since I've gotten 1v1 games with objectives. They weren't single kill games but they were still 1v1. |

Low player counts seem to happen more frequently on the Asia servers, according to people in IRC that live in an Asia territory and get assigned to those servers. The one kill games are very likely as Beld said, just servers that lost all the players, and then sat there ticking their game times down, and the one kill breaks the tie and ends the match. Ambush can't end on a tie right now, so it needs that one kill before the server will finish the game. |

I've been in some of these single kill matches. No idea what causes them, however after playing quite a few games saw the following:
Was in a battle with known players on both sides. Was suddenly randomly booted from the game (respawned and instantly got the controller pic as I was sent back to the merc quarters). Went back to instant battle and was dropped into the same map. As I came in all the 'other' players form the last battle came in as well. I noted that the damage to the MCC"s was basically where it had been when I was booted from the first battle. Game ended normally, but no skill points allocated. Also all k/d stats ignored those from the first game even though i'm very sure it was the same map (as noted with MCC damage etc).
This has happened several times now. I'm suspecting with the 'clone depletion' matches something similar happens however after one death, end of match is triggered (clock rundown is at 0 on these maps at commencement).

Happened to me three times in a row a couple days ago. Could not get a real game going. Decided to take a couple days off from DUST to wait for the new build. But yeah, definitely was happening. Not sure if it is fixed now or no. Hope so. Happy gaming. |
