I don't know about that, fading the HUD when not "active" would be better; once you start firing the ammo HUD should intensify, same with taking hits or getting repaired. I'm confident CCP can sit down and come up with some neat ideas.

There is a built in B&W scrolling bar on my Panasonic P65ST50, you can find it under Menu - Picture - Advanced Settings. That's all you need to get rid of IR, make sure you run it on full contrast.

I had but one crash yesterday, which happened during an intense battle; I'm now convinced the extra chat channels are severely bugged. There are still other bugs that can make you crash, but none are so prevalent as the ones concerning extra chat ...
