i have noticed that heavys can carry any gun they want but the only have two slots one for heavy guns and one for small but latly ive seen heavys carring light weapons but there is not light slot i think this needs to be fixed the heavy is supposed to be used as a support/defence class right not as a assault or a sniper class |

so what you're saying is a heavy can carry a HEAVY machinegun, but he shouldn't be able to carry an Assault rifle or an SMG?
Logic sir... where is it? |

I see no problem with a heavy fitting a light weapon in the heavy weapon slot. Don't limit the possibilities. |

Any slot can fit smaller weapons. (i.e: L can fit Sidearm, and H can fit Light and Sideram afaik.) |

The Heavy suit, just like any suit, isn't restricted to one class item, mainly. The heavies should be able to carry both light and heavy weapons, the suits aren't meant to be locked to only one type of class. If the heavy doesn't want to be the support/tank, then he shouldn't be forced to. Just because the player is a sentinel or other heavy dropsuit user, doesn't mean they need to be a anti-vehicle soldier, or a heavy anti-infantry soldier. Also, on another note, since they can carry a heavy weapon, they should have no problem carrying a smaller, lightweight weapon. Also, there are balances in dropsuits for this, in the heavy suit's case, its movement and mobility suffers, but the advantage is that they have more armor than other types of suits. |

No really i agree with OP. a heavy should not be allowed to carry a light weapon. Giving them range and armor is cheap. Throws the balance off as well. They want a small gun they can get a sidearm. |

Nothing in this game is done without some "EvE" logic behind it, and there's none that saying a person who can carry a very big gun can't handle a normal one.
A heavy using an AR is limiting himself and being a fool all rolled into one. You either need to trust your aim rocks or know the terrain well enough and your weaknesses well enough to not get into bad situations. Heavies Hitbox + very slow speed is damn right hell when facing up on assaults who are agile with smaller hit boxes. Mid range battles are a torture when they can line up there shot first - and for every shot hit your aim goes off a little. The extra HP lets you live a whole second longer. GEK's make that more so. |

No... The heavy is not a class per say it's just a suit. This is isn't bf3 or COD (I happen to like the former) we shouldn't be fixed into roles. I think a scout should be able to use an HMG as long as there is a massive speed penalty. |

Why? the whole point of the heavy drop suit is that it is the only one physical capable of using a HMG, if you give a scout a drop-suit it would be the most literal example of "glass canon" that ever existed. |

The idea of giving the HMG to other classes is fine with me so long as they take not only a speed penalty, but also suffer reduced accuracy.
As I imagine it, the mass and recoil of the HMG would push a scout suit over on its back. Or at least it should. Assaults could handle it better, but certainly not fire as long or as accurately as the heavy.
The gun should be highly impractical for the class, but still be available if people want to go crazy.
Also, increased PG/CPU usage for out of class fit.
EDIT: Or, last but not least, there could be a module that adapts heavy weapons to light weapon slots. |

So your points what.. If a merc wants to be the ultimate glass cannon I'll happily stand 60ft away and laugh while I shred him with my AR.
This game was "sold" on a promise of customise how you want to.
Edit: yeah I like the idea above with recoil etc disadvantages. It should be extremely difficult to do but if some crazy guy wants to do it why not.
PLUS how funny would it be to see a scout trying to control an HMG like a child with a fire hose |

Nah I think the heavy should be able to equip any gear they want. If the penalties of being a heavy are properly balanced, then it should actually be a penalty to the assaults who use it. If it is an advantage to the assault, then the heavy suit is too good, and needs to be toned down (or the other suits buffed, whichever) |

Yes it was but the HMG is designed for the heavy to use, the only reason that heavy's can use it effectively is that they have the armour to get into range and the strength to carry it and control the recoil. Remember the heavy dropsuit sacrifices a lot to give people the ability to have that firepower, heavy's are meant to be mobile strongpoints that force the enemy team to adjust their tactics to deal with it, logistics are meant to support their team mates and keep them in the fight, not be the leading edge of the advance, and assault suits are meant to be the mainstay of any engagement, being adaptable and able to do a little of everything but not specialising in any one thing to the exclusion of all others.

And the key word you said there was effectively. No one should be able to use the HMG as effectively as a heavy but they should be able to equip it. |

Again why? your asking ccp to put time and effort in to letting people equip a weapon that their suit is physically incapable of supporting, makes no sense, and apart from a couple of people who use the reasoning "do it for the LULZ!!!!!!!" will never be used. Please tell me if you were a game developer would you go against a concious design decision which makes sense and follows the physics of the game's universe, to allow a very small minority of your audience to go "hey look at me I'm a a scout running around with a HMG, aren't I hilarious"?
You are asking for a feature that makes no sense and has absolutely no place in this game so unless you have a suggestion that makes sense and would benefit this game, would you please refrain from posting. |
