Firstly: The scout has it's moments now and SOMETIMES does really well. It's hit or miss from game to game, so it isn't entirely skill dependent right now. I can go 23 and 1 in one game then go negative the next, playing the exact same way, with the exact same fit - so if the scout can finally 'hold it's own' on a regular basis come 1.8, that doesn't mean the scout needs to be nerfed. That just means it's finally a dependable suit worth using.
Secondly: I suspect many people will use the scout to see what's new with it and to experience the cloak. They may stay scouts or not, but they will probably get a few kills and bug people. This doesn't mean they need to be nerfed because of these tourists.
I'm betting the cloak will **** off a lot of people. Don't be so quick to demand a nerf. Everyone likes to play with new toys; and to those being killed by it - new puzzles are sometimes frustrating to figure out. Just give it time.
Off-topic: I'm going to be starting up a scout only corporation for anyone interested and I will need officers. Entry requirements will be pretty lenient at first (minimum KDR of 1, must be willing to follow a few rules). I'll be making a topic for that soon but just thought I'd mention it. Feel free to message me in game. Thank you.
Nice commentary, and I agree with you about the migration to scouts and cloaks (etc.), however (IMO) I believe that Heavies are the one that are going to rule the Dust world, with scouts very close behind. The amount of eHP in addition to resistance and the nerfs to the rifles will make the heavies much harder to kill. I mean scouts will be much better than their current situation with all the love their getting in 1.8, but heavies there are going to be more heavies out there, possibly more than scouts. Of course this is debatable and you could reiterate your arguement but you have to agree that heavies are going to have some serious tanking power in 1.8.
"One does not simply" look for a scout, it looks for you.
