It's static
Most people won't carry them (if they do, you can kiss your ammo goodby because you'll be missing nanohives)
They won't last forever
Remember we're also getting cloaking modules, and snipers are stealthy anyway. They'll snipe you before you deploy the shields, or a nova knifer with cloaking will just walk in and gut you. (I combine a sniper rifle and knives right now, so I'll be the ultimate stealth killer) |

I have a feeling that when minmatar precision rifles will be released, all caldari sniper rifles will require a charge. I remember seeing on the patch notes a while back (chromosome, I think) that CCP was going to try releasing that, but didn't. |

I'm surprised that there are no laser sniper rifles mentioned yet, especially when Gallente weapons are close range and lasers are mid/long range.
I wouldn't expect it any time soon. Mid-long range is the range of laser rifles.
Caldari and minmatar are the most obvious choices for sniper rifles, because they have the longest range in eve. |
