Role playing isn't dumb, rather, some role players are dumb. Role playing material ranges the gamut from fan fiction stuff, to spaceship role playing, to WoW roleplaying, to futa-dranei-love-triangles in newbie town WoW role-playing (start a character on moonguard or emerald dream, go to one of the towns... hours of jaw dropping entertainment. And trolling opportunities).

Within Eve, my roleplaying goes about as far as "Gallente 4 lyfe" "Intaki power" and generally making fun of all the other races and not joining non-gallente FW. As a friend once said, and I paraphrase, "If you don't feel like a role player just by playing Eve, well, then you're probably doing it wrong." In other words, there's so much content to be had with corporation intrigue, the pursuit of profit, fighting and fleeing from your enemies, that a whole extra layer of role play would be exhausting, even if you like the lore and its something to which you're predisposed.

As for roleplayers themselves IN Eve, I've flown with them, I've been disgracefully betrayed by them (I"m looking at YOU Caldari Independent Navy Reserve (CAIN) of The Fourth District. Ladel and Svetlana, your time shall come!), and I've certainly fought with them, both against the decent ones (CVA, they will show up in force to kill you.... eventually) and the scrubs (CVA pets, particularly Silent Infinity).

So, in summary, no I don't think role playing is dumb. However I MAY make fun of you for it, but probably only behind your back, depending on a host of other circumstances.

Everyone hates everyone though. You're not really special there.

To answer the fact about we shouldn't need RP to immerse ourselves in game, that is why it needs fixing...

There are plenty of games who people choose to have a side or even intergame RP action. The core story encourages their creative juices to expand and carry it on further with their character. It has no bearing on the game being broken, or anything. It has to do with people want to expand the story and have some fun doing it.

Foley, how are you going to run this since you know your a punk kid and all? LOL. Sorry had to bring up the scrub from in game chat that was a total tool. Hopefully he hasn't said much more?

I've RP'd plenty before and would love to expand my character to flesh out more of a back story. The corp I made was going to focus more on that, but all the members we got went inactive. So left it, now in a NPC corp again.

Guess it's time to dust off my writing skills and work some on my characters story. Can I tie in my EvE character too? Since this character is ( in game at least ) suppose to be my EvE character as well.
