In my last battle I was on comms to a younger player offering to pick me up in his dropship. I didn't have the heart to say I really don't fancy wasting time better spent offering support to the guy's on the ground and getting us both wasted in his expensive coffin and loosing our side more clones.
Thank you whoever shot him down, saved me a little embarrassment |

Yeah, I just ask them if they can fly them. So what if it sounds heartless and mean. My guns are expensive dangit and I'm not wasting them on a newbie at driving a dropship. Which reminds me, if I ever drive a dropship and am visibly in it, I suck, and am practicing and really don't want anyone in it. When I feel confident that I can fly one for more than two minutes without crashing or flipping it upside down...well i still don't want anyone in it because it's a deathtrap. LOL!! |

I fly too, and I'm not bad, but even if I'm in my Prometheus I keep telling our side to use it as a mobile CRU. Can't stand it when they spawn in and try to gun. Trying to accommodate for them always end up us getting killed. Now I fit small railguns -_- |

This topic should be renamed "The reason most players won't get into a random dudes derpship". Maybe someone could condense that title a little but still, this is exactly the reason why most mercs just don't get into dropships that aren't : A) Flown by us or B) Flown by a Corp-mate, whom we know is a decent pilot.
Believe me, much as I value the speed that is offered by a dropship, I am not going to waste a 80,000ISK or more suit by getting in one if there is even a slight chance that they may not make it to my intended destination. It's kinda like when your parents told you not to get into cars with strangers when you were younger . . . kinda 
I think there should be some way for people to test out their vehicle piloting skills without actually being in battle because I wouldn't like to try to learn how to fly while getting forged, swarmed or railed anytime I got 50m off the ground! |
