US players play in the Asian servers, and the lag is atrocious. Bullets take almost a second to register after being expelled. And movement is horrendously gimped by lag.
Yet Nyain Chan/San and other Asian corps can dominate in American servers, constantly, with virtually no hindrance.
Shanghai dev bias is obvious... |

I hate those guys with all my heart. For the sake of fairness I think we should be put in the server of our region automatically. The option to choose a server by region manually should be removed. So that Nyan San pwn in their region and leave me alone.

Japanese good at team tactic games? you don't say!  especially one that is a lobby shooter. OPEN UP THE MAP MORE AND WATCH HOW GOOD THEY REALLY ARE.
I've played with the japs since Resistance days. And they sucked at that game. But LOST PLANET? SOCOM? You couldn't play those games with preparing your anus.
They are really good in moving in a swarm. But space them out, and they don't do so well. 1vs1 they are average. |

No killing .. in CS i can't play in Russian servers because the lag, they are part of the EU but it definitely feels like another continent...Dust should have an Arctic server.. just saying... i feel bad for that guys. |

US is above average and when parsed out by population density it is in the top ranks...also if you look at average population density found in the suburbs (where most Americans live) you find that our internet speeds are better when compared to areas in other countries with similar densities.
In South Korea nearly everyone lives in Seoul which is very densely populated....get away from Seoul and internet performance drops fast.
Also we have 3rd world rust belt blue cities like Detroit.....everything there sucks....which hurts our numbers. |

That and in all fairness thanks to a certain political current allot of infrastructure tends to get the shaft in the US. We really are our own worst enemy. |

higher bandwidth allows more connections to be applied to a single line however, that is if i recall my old high school electronics classes, maybe im wrong.
BTW, the term "virtually", means "not really" more or less, meaning you just said bandwidth has EVERYTHING to do with ping time. |

Building internet infrastructure for small nations is easy. When you say Southeast Asia you mean Japan, South Korea, and Hong Kong (not counting China). You could take the land masses of all three and fit them in a corner of Alaska. The next above the US are a litany of small developed First World Nations.
Yet in the US you can be out in the boondocks and still get a dial up internet connection. Combine with a high percentage of population that uses the internet with people using any means and that will drag down any connection speed average.
It's not all about speed but how you use the internet and we use it very well in relation of economics. In video gaming not so much. |

I live in the UK but my server setting for dust is on auto, end result I think I played on all of the servers at somepoint, I do know this was an issue on BF3, it got to the point that the rented servers had rules like "No out of region lag abusers" as we were getting Austrialans on euro servers along with the KSA, Japan etc and the game was super laggy due tothe ping differences |

Not really. Singapore and Vietnam stand out in south east asia, everywhere really isn't really that good.
East asia, Japan followed by Seoul in s.Korea, followed by hongkong IMO. |
