As the numbers of active Dust players continue to fall http://t.co/G0NaZCkD7u many will notice our blog has shifted into what can be done to improve the game. Why? In hopes that the issues preventing player retention and game growth can be resolved. Telling the stories of New Eden is nice, but is useless with the game still badly in need of better gameplay and more variety of experience. We cant in good conscience write about the dominant forces in Planetary Conquest when so many core aspects of the game are still broken or missing. We've seen the effects of this honesty take shape. Our last interview request [which we made over a month ago] with CCP has still gone unanswered. A CCP Dev has even blocked us on Twitter. We're unmoved however, while legions of 'yes men' may line up to tell CCP 'good job' by refusing to ask the hard questions, we have consistently criticized the poorer aspects of this game, which to date has been universally rejected by not only gaming media but also casual, hardcore and EVE players.
Anyone who is telling you 'everything is alright' is lying. There has always been a vocal troll element wishing for Dust to fail for one reason or another, that group has a twin that sings CCPs praises regardless of missteps. There has also been a reasonable group of gamers that want to see the game succeed but is willing to be critics when necessary, we consider ourselves part of the latter and we feel this group is critical.

Sadly there hasnt been enough good news. More importantly, is the game good enough to write about say, twice per week? Interest in the game is waning on many levels and even media is affected at this point. When is the last time you saw a boots on the ground episode? We can only hope CCP makes some timely changes. |

Does anyone know the status of Dust 514 Exec Producer CCP Jian? [Brandon Laurino]
Easy enough stuff to write about for at least 1 blog per week
Good news or bad a blog is a blog and generally it yaps about what the community has been yapping about which has mostly been cal logi nerf, flaylock nerf, vehicles as usual, the invisible CCP blam and now wolfman took his job and where did the EP go to, blue donut in PC and how its died down, maybe the upcoming tourny where you name a planet if you win, guessing whats in 1.4, even more guessing with whats in 1.5, the general state of the game today, view from a vet, views from a noob, views from a vehicle guy, views from every type of player in the game, is CPM worth it? etc etc etc
If CCP can write a dev blog it should be damn easy for you to do one, write a blog on anything or you will die faster than DUST wil |

Bingo. he's saying the game isnt good enough to write about on a regular basis and most people here agree. most of that stuff u suggested is gossip.

I agree with the article 100%, especially the part about no health gap. The divide is too big and core shooter fans have spoken by rejecting the game almost completely.
its time for CCP to adapt their game strategy. |

Sorry dude ive never really valued your opinions, if anything you do your up most to pick the horrible bits and bring it to forefront of every arguement which in the end of the day hurts everyone else. By decreasing the active user base. (Not saying your blog has that much influence, but bad publicity will put people off) you will hurt the fact people want to play, rather than just reading sh!tty reviews and sacking it off.
If you cant find the positives (in a unfinished game) and realise CCP's train of thought then your not much of a 'Journalist' Its easy to take the objective side of things going wrong. Rather than trying to pull users in and getting a better commetary(Un-biased) of the stuff thats going right. |

(Commenting as I'm reading:) I'm 100% with your stance on supporting the game thru necessary critisiscm.
I agree with Uprising build being what should've been shown (with exception of few big bugs). But I strongly disagree on the point that closed beta should've been delayed. Open beta, yes, definately at later time. But delaying the closed beta would've also delayed the bug fixing and especially the balancing process way too much!
As you pointed out, any wait before PS4 and new shooters hit the market is dangerous.

ur not making sense. the only people responsible for the horrible bits ur talking about is CCP. Not some blog that says murder taxis and flaylocks are horrible, fix them.
ign, gametrailers and basically every reviewer not named psu.com fried Dust 514. ur exactly the kind of fanboi hurting the game by not demanding quality. unfinished game? ur serious? u cant fall back on that excuse when ur taking peoples money. im glad they want 2 keep improving the game too but u still have to have a basic level of quality. |

doesn't seem that different to me, the game peaked at release and has more or less stabled out with a slight gradual decline, depending on how they hype their next major content patch/version release, it would likely spike up again.
as for the legions of yes men, their are far more "NO" men in this community.
for every single "good job ccp your patch didn't suck this time" theres 20-30 threads and posts telling them how they can't even get dressed right.
anyway back to the point at hand, dust is currently in a **** state but they've openly acknowledged that fact and are working towards fixing i in the future, not sure what else you expect to get done aside from this.
step 1 - admit their is a problem
step 2 - figure out how to fix said problem
step 3 - fix the problem.
they are somewhere between step 2 and step 3. |

Can't argue with most of the points, and quite well written.
A bit of feedback however, I found the white writing on a black background quite painful on my eyes after only a short time (its late at night so that probably doesn't help). This forum's grey background is much easier on the eyes imo. |

Good read. Keep it up. The game deserves the reviews it got, from critics and fans. And Those that shouted the loudest for the FPS second to everything else, why are you then surprised that the FPS community rejected it? And then, some how blame the console FPS crowd? lol
Dust as a fps going to PC would get more stomped in the reviews than it did on consoles. PC? like home of the FPS? Yeah.
What audience was dust shooting for? No, don't think about it, just say it.
Dust 514 is a Lobby shooter. Not destiny. not defiance. not even red dead redemption. say it with me and accept it... LOBBY SHOOTER. |

yep it's definitely a lobby shooter, sad but true, but I love lobby shooters, I grew up with unreal tournament so doesn't bother me all that much, I do SERIOUSLY hope that improves in the future but eithe way as long as there is more shooter to my lobby i'd be happy for awhile. |

My main thought on the matter is with all that has been conceptualized and thrown into the list of things DUST will have in it stated by CCP themselves, they really need some more production power.
I don't know their internal corporate workings of course, but what I do know is what most other players know they have their new operation in Shanghai, they've stated their huge intentions with this game, and they've taken the leap.
At this point you're freefalling, past the point of no return. I would think they need to hire ALOT more people to do what everyone has been talking about. If they're going to say that this game is going to stand side by side to eve, then it would seem obvious to me that on the start of said project you'd have the plan and the ability to back it up.
If not then you had better start filling in the ranks and doing what it takes to make this game an EVE equivalent in the genre it was made for. Don't say you're making EVE's brother with full intention to make it great with only the ability do very little very slowly. People say CCP is a small company and all of that, but again, if you're going to say you are going all in on this project, and EVE has made you as rich as everyone says, then do it! Jump dammit! Do what it takes to make this game what it was meant for, or back out say sorry, we didn't mean to get you excited for nothing any time soon.tm |

IMHO, the problem with the health gap is that there is absolutely zero penalty for doing nothing but stacking tank.
If there is no drawback, why not stack a ******** amount of shield extenders on your suit?
They need to tie Sig Profile and Shields together, more shield mods you have fitted, the higher your Sig Profile becomes, higher Sig Profile should mean easier to see (even if it makes it so that you are visible from forever away like in Chromosome) and more vulnerable to certain damage sources (just like in Eve).
I agree with your comments about yes-men though, which is part of the reason I am the way I am with all of the ******* asshat sycophants here on the forums.
All carrots and no sticks is a bad thing, praise should be given when it is due, though they shouldn't be coddled when they **** up (lol, HTFU CCP!!!).
I also agree that we need more than two game modes (ONE AND ONLY IS JUST ******* SKIRMISH GODDAMNIT), FW needs to have real meaningful impact (both for Dust Mercs and Eggers) and PC needs to not just be Farmville.
Dust has a lot of potential, but it also has a really long way to go to fulfill that potential. |

I think CCP is too slow to keep most people interested. It takes them months to implement simple fixes. All they had to do was implement a basic form of pve so we can just chill with our friends and that would have keep most of us content for at least 2-3 months.
Whoever is leading the dust development is driving it into the ground. When the ps4 comes out this game isnt up to par you will see a lot of big corporations leave only to return once every 2 months or so.
The reason you see so much hate on the forums is because people really want this game to succeed. if they didn't they would just leave without saying much. |

huge issue imo. if jian wasnt the first guy then the next guy they hire will be the third. three eps in this short period? something is really wrong.
the real question is did he leave or was he let go? theres a chance he was hired to clean up the first guys mess but was given the right tools, personnel or time frame for a proper fix and he just said screw it and left rather than have Dust 514 on his resume for other companies to think he was the one responsible for this mess they call an MMO.
if he had bad programmers that couldnt code fps how was he supposed to fix that? |
