Why not?
Bored of DUST? Then let's get some general game discussion going. Retro and modern.
For me The Witcher 2 was a masterpiece, totally immersive environments, beautifully designed and believable. The atmospheres are pretty realistic and are a good representation of what it would feel like in real life. The real-time conversations add to this. The voice acting and dialogue are also outstanding and commendable by themselves.
The game becomes more linear than you would want it to but it's still a lot of fun. Every conversation has had a lot of thought go into it. I've never had more fun exploring an RPG game than this although I never did get into obtaining herbs and making potions and all the equipment etc. it's all there like in any good RPG.
Also Dark souls is an amazing game. I played it on PC using a PS3 controller (don't use keyboard and mouse) it's a brutal game which has the equivalent of level 1 being right next to level 10. loads of different places are instantly accessible but you might not be able to tackle the enemies there until halfway through the game.
that initial fear leads to extreme caution when going into any fight because you don't know if that enemy will kill you with one hit. one of the best RPG games ever created. it's a grind so I did use a "tool" to save literally a whole day of grinding so kind of cheated towards the end but it's still a very rewarding game with plenty of tough boss fights. a truly remarkably well-designed game.
Also the Final Fantasy remake on PSP is good for sinking a lot of hours into. Level 50 something now. Got hellfire chasm and lifespring grotto to go. also might have missed some of the bosses in earthgift shrine. |

When all else fails, free minecraft doesn't explode my computer.
But who am I kidding, if you can get past the strange movement and action system in EVE, everything else is quite straight forward.
Of course, its a good game if you are willing to subscribe. |

Sid Meier's Alpha Centauri.
Absolutely love what it did with the setting and world building. The excerpts from the technologies, facilities, the secret projects... they all do a wonderful job of painting a picture of the various factions and giving a real flavour to the world. Then there's the subtle shifts in representation of factions as time passes, the changing tone as science marches on. There was a point where I was struck by how the previous bastion of morality in previous centuries had been silent of late, how the only voice of reason left to us was Miriam of all people, making a stand against hubris in the face of worrying new developments...
It's my favourite example of how to weave a story indirectly within a game. There aren't many that can emphasise a point through what's not being said and who's not saying it, that in the end paint two very different sides to each major player in subtle strokes over a singular massive canvas that encompasses the whole.
Even if you're not wanting to overthink it you can just enjoy the ambience of it. It does draw you in though, there's something very compelling about it. |

Sins of a Solar Empire, if you like your RTS. It may be old, but they're still doing expansions. |

Got Dune II on PC today, shame it's on floppy disks and I can't use it haha, just no room to set up the old PC!
Been playing Max Payne 3 multiplayer that's a pretty fun game!
Really do need to get the last of us as somebody suggested but can't afford it, I don't even have battlefield 3! Not going to buy new games until PS4. |

Morrowind and Daggerfall were amazing for the PC (and to me, better than all of the modern Bethesda games, ruling out Fallout 3). - PC Game/PS2 and Xbox (PC Preferred)
SCP Containment Breach is a nice one if you're in for a scare, just make sure you go to the SCP Wiki first. It's free as well, so no harm in trying. - PC Game
Uncharted 2 & 3 are really good games. I'd recommend them to anyone with a PS3. - PS3 Game
If you want to bash your head in frus- I mean have fun, then Dwarf Fortress is a fun game. The learning curve is one of the steepest, but the depth is amazing. - PC Game
The original Starcraft was an amazing RTS for the PC. - PC Game
Fallout 3 had an amazing storyline and the gameplay was nice. The other Fallouts are good games too.
Most of these are fairly dated now, but they're all fun games. |

Street Fighter x Tekken is a good one if only for co-oping with friends.
Payday: The Heist is surprisingly really good (again if you can get some friends together).
Organ Trail: Director's Cut is a goofy ass game if you're looking for a fun little time sink.
And Hotline Miami if you want a ridiculously well done "indie game" that hits all of the right notes (especially in the soundtrack department). |
