I play LLAV only and im getting tired of being shot or killed by proximity mines out of my LLAV only to see it stolen or destroyed.
It costs me 300k ISK 1 fitting and i can afford only 1 per match .

I agree though, the resistance bonus should be replaced with a style bonus. Namely 5% increase in retractable roof activation duration. When you activate hardeners, an automatic roof slides up, protecting the driver in addition to the hardener bonus. When not getting shot, you can still get that stiff breeze.
its not the LLAV dying , its me
i use hardner , the best there is and YES your ideea of having retractable roof when hardner is active is quite cool
i hope CCP see this and thinks about it

 Why shouldn't you be shot out of your vehicle ? ( & cost of the vehicle doesn't count )

well guess what?
you can be inside of a car too but CCP gave you a chance to take a shoot at the driver
there has to be an alternative to protect the driver to not get shot out and that is by a FILL covered LAV cabin
even if its only while armor hardner is active

THATS MORE THAN MY TANKS!
LOL then if a LLAV has more shield than your tank then YOU are doing something wrong LOL |

I don't have any good ideas on the subject, but how about this-
Normally, LAVs would have the driver enclosed by special shielding. However, a frontal impact- like with running over infantry or a shot from AV weapons- will cause engine problems. To compensate for this, the LAV will temporarily slow down, and shut down the driver shielding to save energy.
If an LAV runs someone over or hits a wall too hard, the driver protection will be gone.
LAV do slowdown when damaged
