Speaking from extensive experience with the new clone packs, The Southern Legion has recorded many matches with the new 100 clones.
While it does help 'favour' the defender, the 100 clone limit is far too tight. The only viable way to win that we have managed is to dominate the field in the early stages (which we have done), build a margin that is sufficient, then stop spawning to stop being cloned out. I'm not sure how CCP came to the conclusion that 80 clones per match is average, but I would argue that 100 clones per match is more likely the 'average'.
While the current system places a lot more value in 'holding' districts, the Clone packs are near worthless in most respects. A 20% buff to their number would bring them back up to being competitive, but without the imbalance currently seen.

If you're holding districts, why are you using the clone packs to attack? The main reasons why people usually use clone packs is to counter attrition costs and maintain max clone counts on their districts - both attempt to circumvent the limits that CCP have put in place to encourage district - district warfare. |
