do you guys at all think that people on the forums seem almost angry enough to stab you in real life? almost every comment ive seen in "NO NOT THIS **** NO NO NO" its crazy.  |

People use to communicate through text....it was called mail back then.
You will notice that a lot of those letters are highly formalized. They have a too and from and the laguage used was generally very polite. The reason for this was because conveying thought through letters is very different then speaking. Lots of stuff comes out when you talk and is conveyed non-verbally....even if you not seeing one another and talking over a phone. Pitch tone speed volume etc.
You can't do that with text so the mood of the writer is often filled in by the reader.
When you read somehting you disagree with you often put a negative mood on it....when you like it you do the opposite.
My guess is people are not angry....you just disagree with them and are inserting your own mood into it. |

My theory on this is that they are acting out in order to get someone to sympathize with their worldview and validate them. It's like a weird dysfunctional family where everyone is trying to mark their territory, make a name for themselves, one up each other, save face or push for what they want without considering the consequences.
I know how I'm going to deal with these types but most companies have less leeway. |
