and Ultimately, all of your opinions are nearly invalid for one reason, you're all veterans of Dust 514, it is consistently amazing how skewed one's vision of how a new player experience can be once they are veterans, I have done this in real world dozens of times in the military and every time we grab an entirely clueless guy to run something he constantly runs into something that the guys who been running that shop for the last year the rookie missed because it wasn't mentioned and that knowledge was not passed down.
So to that end, those of you handholding though BA I highly recommend sticking with the basics, controls, UI, Tacnet (which is massively changing by the way better get prepared for that) Communications and weapon systems. Those of you not handholding would need to scrounge up testimony of real players of what they think of the modified BA. Because as it stands now I am filing most of your current complaints under greif stompers as I see no real valid reason as to why its a detrimental on new player learning outside the hack thing which is a small fraction of the entire game to be possibly learning.

Turning the Battle Academy into an 8 vs 8 Ambush only game on the same tiny, tiny map is probably the dumbest move CCP has yet made with Dust 514.
Six months from now when the profits from micro-transactions have dried up and you are all scratching your heads asking "Gee. I wonder what went wrong. Gosh. I hope the Burger Kings in Reykjavik are hiring. "....well, here you go. |

You are overreacting. I think a scaled down area to learn basics of suit fittings and controls is a good thing. I've played a few on an alt, and I see nothing wrong. For the record - the map is not really that small. |

Yeah seems fine to me too. It's super focused, so this should really help to get used to the basics of the game. The only problem is, that the shock when leaving Academy is going to be even bigger now. Suddenly everything is thrown onto you. |

Allow me to give you some context as to why IWS has little regard for your opinions on the BA. it's something an eve player came up with, it's been named after him, it's called Malcanis's law.
The law states
Quote: "Whenever a mechanics change is proposed on behalf of 'new players', that change is always to the overwhelming advantage of richer, older players."
What this means is that any time a change is made for "new players" it's the older players who will benefit the most. It's a concern that has to be taken into account when making decisions.

Read those, the second one in particular to get a good understanding of it. |

troll, given he has given nothing to back up his statement, just trying to be an internet cool kid.
dust is a complicated game, they need time to understand what the hell is going on in a controlled setting, if they want full fights they can apparently join FW so most arguments iv seen are disarmed by that little fact alone |

The problem is the game at start "for a new player" is not that appealing even with skirmish. .. ie: starter fits, huge skillpoint sink, limited amount of isk to put towards advancement. ..
Throwing new players into ambush only gametype, gaining what, maybe 100k isk per match playing basic starter fits for who knows how long does not give "new players" a since of accomplishment....
If anything it has a negative effect and gives the appeal of what a lot of reviewers have already categorized dust as being.. "a better idea then it is a shooter, a time sink and not well executed with sloppy controls to match"
New players need the only freedom and semi thrill Dust can provide at the moment, being skirmish... If the idea is to limit the amount of players to gain better focus, at least make the academy 12v12 skirm or dom even... Ambush though, really ?
The only thing I can think is CCP wanted to give the new players a TDM/COD feel to keep them hooked... Sorry Dust isnt COD and Ambush maps aren't designed to be the ideal TDM arena... |

Lol.
I must say, Iron Wolf Saber can talk about academy because he never had to go from there in the first place.
Hahaha I'm sure he's killing people with the laser rifle in the academy, that's why he can say "they're fine".
Edited "bla bla bla CCP is doing a good job bla bla bla I'm a CPM and I'm so CCP flunkey bla bla bla" |

This is the only drawback, but then my thoughts about that are as follows:
1. This is war - war should be shocking or something is wrong with you (roleplaying position) 2. One of the things I like about CCP's games is the learning curve; by having a game where it is very in depth (Dust isn't all the way there yet but is moving that way) tends to draw more mature players (in my opinion). |

That's fine and dandy. Another console FPS will come along soon enough (like, in 3 months on the PS4 LOL), and those of us who are sick of Dust 514 and CCP will flock to it.
With no new players in Dust plunketing down cash, and no point for older players with (basically) maxed out character to purchase Aurum, Dust 514 will cease. There is a very good reason you haven't heard anything about this game coming to the PS4 yet.
I find it funny when old players pat themselves on the back about their community at the expense of new players. Keep doing that and then one day you realize that there is no game for your community.
Shocker! |

Because teams have possibility to meet each other now, rather than win by null-cannons? Ask yourself do you want circle-takers in this game or killers? |
