Most importantly we need better damage fall off throughout the blast radius. I don't know how it works now but we need damage falloff for explosives fit a fairly narrow gaussian distribution, and then tweak the maximum blast radius and peak damage on all explosives to compensate.
There should be no distinction between direct damage and splash on explosives.. just peak damage which happens at 0m from blast and then fall off as you move out of the range.
This is a big problem with flux nades too. I end up agreeing with you quite a bit. Good post
This is a great idea. I just wonder what it'd do to my poor PS3? Melt my CPU? Hopefully this would all be calculated server side, and not introduce too much lag. |

Can you quantify too much range? What is too much? If I aim way up, way over everyones head and HUD tag, and lob a few shells down range, how is that a problem? The longest kill I've achieved is 118m.
The MD is a short to mid range weapon. It's not CQC. It's not a long range weapon. It should be effective from 10-150m. And kills at 100-150m are mostly blind luck unless the redberries are clustering up like fools. Then they deserve to die. |

I'm starting to think you just have ekriphobia. In an open field, sure, I know what to do, but in an enclosed complex, surrounded by tons of blueberries and grenades? It's one of the most confusing feelings in this game. Especially with the low frame rate. You should try being in the recieveing end, get a Gallente dropsuit and run some matches, try to encounter a MD.
I run a Gal Assault suit with a MD. Honestly, enemy MD don't scare me in the slightest. It's the SCR/locust combo and damped shotties that scare me. That and turning a corner and being surprised by an HMG. |

I think the only sensible balancing that could possibly come to the MD would be a blast radius falloff for all splash damage.
I'd like to hear CCP's voice on how realistic that possibility is of implementing.
The only other possible change would be to make it require Light Wep 4 like the Plasma Cannon. Or possibly even Explosives 3 too. I'd like to see more skill requirements for many things.
I'm a big fan of SP sinks. It deters the I-want-it-now-crowd! and makes it feel like you are accomplishing something. For all the QQing about the SP system and how it's breaking the game, I want it more in depth and more complicated. **** the ADD CoD babies.
And yes, I am satisfied with the 4k current playerbase. We want a slow, steady increase, not a population explosion and slow decline. |

Have a falloff damage of sorts, further from impact zone you are the less it does. I wouldn't mind having this, but it would have to apply to ALL explosives, not just the MD if it were to happen.. otherwise that would just be straight fkn the MD, and we all know a militia locus nade if far more deadly
Yes, ALL splash damage. So that includes Flux, Locust, Forge, MD, Flaylock, Missile, Rail(?), RE and AV. If CCP will do it, it needs to be for every weapon that deals splash damage. |

This doesn't make any sense. The MD is area denial. Most often, shots are placed around corners, walls behind cover, and in the middle of crowds. This isn't a precision weapon, where you miss or hit. This is a AOE weapon, where you strategically try to place your shells to provide the maximum effect. Direct hits are a bonus.
The MD has very few shots. Lately, I've found myself completely dry of both hives and MD in games where I don't die. I usually have to charge in with my SMG, which most often eventually leads to my death. MD/flux combo eats hives for breakfast. They don't last long supporting this combo. |
