I wanted to put forward a few thoughts to see if they find traction with the community, and hell, maybe even with the devs!
First off, let me state that I am not much of a vehicle driver personally. You'll rarely see me in one or calling them down... but I wanted to highlight the key issue that has become even worse since the removal of free LAVs. Now don't get me wrong, I am happy with the removal of free LAV's, it's amazing how cheap we all are, it really cut down on the spamming of LAV's to run each other down.
I think that we really need to have vehicles drivers seats only accessible to a squad member, not any stupid *** blueberry on your side. I've seen many instances of a driver getting out to hack something, and thereby help out the team, only to have some ******* blueberry jump in and drive off on the poor guy... followed by what i presumed was much cursing on their part. My reasoning is you can control who you squad with so if they jump in the drivers seat you've probably told them to, if not, stop squading with them. I'm sure tank drivers would be happy to know they don't have to worry about someone yanking their tank by hoping in before they do. Obviously further controls by the vehicle owner are desirable, but I would think this could be a quick easy step in the right direction.
My other thought is that if you hack an enemy vehicle it should be added to your inventory if it is not destroyed before battle ends and removed from the previous owners. This way there would be a real purpose in hacking a vehicle instead of blowing it up to get the WP or driving it into the red zone to deny the owner it (come on, we've all done it!).

many ppl have suggested a lock on vehicles before. the best excuse is also the use of AUR vehicles - if you've invested real money into a vehicle you should be able to ensure its not going to be stolen, this would be real theft and something CCP should be accountable for. |

I'd certainly prefer some kind of way to keep my vehicle for my own uses. I hopped out to do some good ol gun fighting and help out some pinned down teammates. They got wiped out so I attempted to retreat back to the main line and regroup. I turn around to see a random militia fit blueberry hop in my LAV and drive off leaving me to die. They were even kind enough to drive headlong towards a tank to make sure they died and lost my vehicle anyway. Well...ain't that nice. |

In MAG, on certain game modes squads were given an APC that only the squad could access. For Dust, since every vehicle is personal, the Driver seat should be defaulted to the driver, and the passenger seats open for anyone. This includes all vehicles, even LAVs. A mechanism for enabling anyone to take it should be implemented as well |

LAVs and HAVs need self destruct buttons so if a blue berry steals yours, you can blow him to hell. Sure it would destroy your vehicle and kill the dude in it, but they probably would have driven off and gotten the vehicle blown up and themselves killed anyways, at least with the self destruct buttons you deny the enemy from getting points for killing the idiot blue berry. |

Excellent. Now we can eagerly await the locks... I still like the other hacking / salvage concept, i wonder if it will ever be considered. |

IMHO, Vehicles should be the same in Dust as they are in Eve. If you don't have the skills to use it, you can't.
Only difference, in Dust you could still be a passenger. |

Make it so that only squad can access, but when a blue dot tries, it sends a request to the owner, with the name of the person trying to use the vehicle, and let the owner accept or deny it. If accepted, that blue dot can use it, of not, then they can't, and they lose the option to request access for that particular vehicle.
There's plenty of spare buttons on the D-pad that can be used to allow/deny. IMO that would solve this |

Why? it's not like you will be able to drive it, or even access the fit, until you skill up into it...... |

I like this thought a lot. Prevent someone from spamming say HAV's for team mates that couldn't call them in themselves. |

Additionally, make it so when you jump out and theres blues in the vehicle, starting a recall auto kicks them from the vehicle. (Or carries them off into the sunset, I don't mind personally :) ) |

That's actually probably a better idea then the one they have listed in that dev thread request. This way not just the drivers seat could be limited but the passengers as well. |

a) Who's to say the person is not already skilled into it. b) One day I will be able to sell it.... one day...
