I guess CCP doesn't want our opinion... Battle Academy got a huge change, my younger brother is trying the game right now and I'm guiding him.
How can someone possibly enjoy that? And since there's not any tutorial, new players might think the whole game consists in 8v8 Ambushes... and insta-quit. The first time I played I thought the Academy was the "real" DUST.
Why even making patch notes? At this point call them "surprise packs" and let people realize their Flaylock is no more a win button while in game (sarcasm here, but that would be actually fun)!
.............I'm stunned.
Lesser the noise the better the focus and btw WAS IN THE NOTES.
This also increases time spent in the academy with shorter games. |

Either way the BC is mostly aimed at people who do not have that much handholding in the first place, Wall of WTF doesn't help much either. IMO BC needs to be teared up a bit so that every new BC you graduate out of more and more things are bought in. |

First off using likes to justify anything is stupid, I am a clear example as to why you shouldn't use this argument as I am the most liked poster. Secondly there are like bots running around.
Thing is the CPM had no influence on this change because we weren't made aware of the specific changes entirely outside that the BA was going to get changed up to help player focus on learning the game mechanics until a better tutorial system sets in. If given the chance I would have encourage setting up tiers the Battle Academy. After all it was stated in the beginning that BA and the conditions for it was to be monitored and adjusted as needed. Similar to how just about every other game mode would be.
However looking down the road with matchmaking changes and introduction of improved NPE this could be a step in the direction of better training and understanding of the game.
and Ultimately, all of your opinions are nearly invalid for one reason, you're all veterans of Dust 514, it is consistently amazing how skewed one's vision of how a new player experience can be once they are veterans, I have done this in real world dozens of times in the military and every time we grab an entirely clueless guy to run something he constantly runs into something that the guys who been running that shop for the last year the rookie missed because it wasn't mentioned and that knowledge was not passed down.
So to that end, those of you handholding though BA I highly recommend sticking with the basics, controls, UI, Tacnet (which is massively changing by the way better get prepared for that) Communications and weapon systems. Those of you not handholding would need to scrounge up testimony of real players of what they think of the modified BA. Because as it stands now I am filing most of your current complaints under greif stompers as I see no real valid reason as to why its a detrimental on new player learning outside the hack thing which is a small fraction of the entire game to be possibly learning.
What does this mean for me though? As a CPM I am probably going to question why? and then suggest a few additional changes while they're at it, after all nothing is set in stone. |

Worst decision that could of been done for new players... Skirmish imo is the only high point of Dust and now new players are forced to experience the smallest and worst gametype Dust has to offer.....
At least giving them skirmish allowed new players a glimpse of boxed freedom this game provides now they are thrown in a smaller box with no meaningful combat....
Complete failure CCP QFT. The CPM is not the CSM. They aren't helping Dust. When I started there was no academy. If I had to slog through a bunch of ambush matches before even seeing skirmish, I probably would have quit. Ambush is worthless, and restricting new players to ambush is just plain stupid.
Gee I wonder where the idea of the battle academy came from in the first place? |
