Because MAG >>> All Other Shooters Even Despite Its Flaws (and the fact that it is in fact "dying"). |

Do you play chess complaining that it's not enough like monopoly?
Why, yes, yes I do.
Seriously though, I am sure that most of us understand and agree that "Dust Gëá Mag and it never will". However, for all of the loathsome hate heaped on us I really think that we're (mostly) just trying to help ensure that the same mistakes aren't made here. Beyond that, there are things that Dust could be doing better and we've seen working examples of what I imagine CCP is trying to do.
It is less about making Dust into MAG 2 and more about trying to convey what we've seen work and what we've seen not work.
I don't view that as a bad thing. |

As much as CCP bent over backwards to appease MAG vets in beta, I think it's time to turn a deaf ear. While I understand what you're saying, I have to disagree (to do otherwise would be to say "ignore me").
I think that the mistake that was made in the beta involves which MAGgots were listened to. I mean, AFAIK, the earliest Beta Testers (outside of CCP employees) were MAGgots, though from what I know of who they were, I'd wager that they were looking to tank Dust from the start.
Self-important, self-proclaimed "elite" megalomaniacs and their sycophants and yesmen are never a good thing and that is the crowd that CCP decided to pull in first. TBH, I'm surprised this resembles Eve as much as it does (which really isn't that much if you ask me) and isn't even more of a brainless lobby shooter sales vehicle. |

Homefront was pure garbage, I mean, I've taken ***** that had more gameplay value to me than Homefront did. Now if it had been more of a Freedom Fighters on the PS3, then it might have been good. Anyone else remember Freedom Fighters on the PS2?
MAG is a game I am proud to have played and I will carry those fond (and not so fond) memories with me for the rest of my existence. I've dumped more hours of my life into MAG than any other video game (save Civ4, the Co8 ToEE mods and Eve) period. I still miss my Valor .12 gauge and chasing after bad APC drivers with the MMG.
Dust, well, I'm holding out hope for Dust. I play Eve now and I hear both good and bad about the early days, I wish I had been there. In 10 years when Dust is all crazy fleshed out like (I assume) we all want, I'll be able to look back at the early days and say
"I was there". |
