If I am helping in a push on an objective, I just whip it out and scan the objective revealing ALL enemies nearby. If I am in a firefight and I have lost the person I am fighting, just scan the wall where I last saw him and POOF there he is. I just wish that we got SP for it. But I shall continue to use this new gadget I have found and fallen in love with. |

So what does this have to do with mass drivers? I think you may have botched the title of this thread, take a look.
Edit: OP fixed thread title. |

As a tanker, it is highly valuable. When one is zooming, it definitely reduces one's peripheral, and one's visual alertness.
But with a radar at hand, it can definitely decreases the odds of getting jumped by a swarm of AV-ers with AV grenades, which can be pretty effective at dispatching distracted tanks (especially redliners, hehehehe). |

Duh moment of the day...
I thought they worked passively. Despite Active being in the title and filling an equipment slot. The shame. I skilled (Lvl 3) into them, thought they didn't work. The shame. So, guess what I'm doing tonight? (Reviewing my ability to decipher context clues is just one.) |

Edit: OP fixed thread title. I've found the passive scanning modules to help with the MD. I'm working up to the complex range amplifier and might work on the precision enhancer next to prevent getting stuck up on by scouts. |

Lol ya. With my scanner I can see if someone is hiding around the corner and then I can pop off a couple of shots next to them. That is one of the major advantages I see with the mass driver. You don't have to see your opponent to kill them! |

they really do need to start giving sp for using it. i've been finding that i can practically rts a nice little ambush match so that my team mates are always moving toward the enemy, but then i go 0/0 lol |

You can also see the direction they are looking as well I think. I want to use it but it feels like my team doesn't look at the map or just dumb. I think it's both ._. |

I remember back when we had no need for an "active scanner", y'know, back when our radars weren't POSs |

In Battlefield 3, you get points for spotting. There is a weapon attachment specifically for it.
Imo spotting regularly(having your crosshair on an enemy so your whole team can see them) should yield 1-2 SP if that spotted enemy is killed. Enemies kille after being scanned by the active scanner should yield like 4-5 WP to the spotter. |
