I have a mouse but not a keyboard. I've seen people here saying controller + mouse is awesome. Since CCP have no plans to remove KB/M compatibility I'll just jump into the bandwagon of unfairness. So how the hell do I use this? Jump/reload with L1/L2? Switch grenades with mouse wheel? What about mouse sensitivity? Thank you.

this is called Kobra-style from now on since I pioneered this back in the closed beta
Controller in left hand, mouse in right hand.
left hand: L2 for grenades, L1 to aim if you don't like pressing right click on the mouse analog stick for movement/maximum strafing ability D-pad for push to talk or maps,
right hand: mouse aiming, left click to shoot
now you might be wondering "BUT HOW 2 RELOAD SIR?"
weapons automatically reload when you deplete their magazine. half the time you won't have to manually reach over and do it, and when you do need to reach over, you'll be able to do it fast enough to where you won't even notice you're using kobra-style
when you need to hack, chances are you already know a hack is coming up, so you can just manually switch to controller while you're hacking and swap back to mouse after it's done.
jumping is the same way. you shouldn't be bunny hopping in firefights, and can typically anticipate jumps when they're coming, so just like hacks, anticipate it ahead of time.
you should never use the triangle button period unless you're sniping
for vehicles obviously you need to switch back to controller only mode.
switching weapons can be done with the mouse wheel, as well as selecting equipment by holding it down.
that should cover just about everything.
now you have maximum strafing degrees and angles while having the most possible precise aiming and fastest turn speed. |

It works well for sniping, you zoom with the controller in left hand, and target/shoot with the mouse in your right hand. |

Had a thought, would the navigation controller (think that's what it's called, the one with the Move) be useful? |

That i can agree with... it takes lots of practice, and very quick hands. |

Anyway....
I use the "Duty Calls" configuration for the DS3.
- Radial menu L2, mouse to select equipment. - R2 for scope aim, shoot with mouse. - X to reload, quick switch from mouse to DS3 and back. - Mouse well to switch weapons. - R2 for grenade, again quick switch from mouse to DS3 and back. - Square to hack. - A to jump, when i need to jump i switch to full DS3 mode, and forget about the mouse for the time been. - Full DS3 mode for Vehicles, and running from objective to objective.. i only switch to the mouse when a fight starts.
The rest is very quick hands, and reflexes. |

Just plug in your mouse in the PS3 ... don't need to set anything ... Just select the "Duty Calls" configuration for your DS3, is the one that works the best for DS3+Mouse combo. |

Don't expect to get crazy kills just because you're using a mouse. It is a myth that just because you use a mouse, you will automatically do better than you would with a controller. It takes time and practice to get used to the mouse. After you master it though, you will be able to pull off some crazy accurate kills. |

If you meant sniping .. yes.. Scoping with L1 and shooting with the mouse helps.. but you still have to aim, you won't get kills just by magic. |

If you're willing to spend a bit of money on it there are dedicated controllers like this that give you the ps3 buttons on the side of the mouse and a half size controller for the left hand so you never need to switch hands. Do a google search for "Tuact Aimon PS". |

This reminds me of my time in Socom. I got so sick of taking my thumb off the left analog to hit up on the d-pad to zoom in and snipe. So I "e-dapted" lol finger came down on the d-pad and voila!....history was made (in my mind at least since I did come up with it on my own) and "indexing" was born ( never heard the term until two installments later). Have to say 5 years of that I was starting to look like Chris Farley in Tommy Boy or Black Sheep when he is doing the coroner impression OH MY GOOOOOD:D |

Must be popular it says there are none available but I only checked one website. Do all FPS support this though? |
