EDIT: This is an edit in response to the follow up posts in the rest of this thread. The Reason as I Recall the removal of the scope went like this.
CCP didn't have ranges on the AR's & we also had 2 SKILLS called SHARPSHOOTER that extended the ranges (currently that 1 skill now controls dispersion or kick I don't remember right now which one it covers), so with the scope we had prior to its removal, a BREACH variant could have ALMOST the same range as the Tacticals. Now instead of being ready with the new range system CCP decided to gimp the problem by forcing us to use the Iron Sights after taking away the ORIGINAL Sharpshooter skills (note plural) and thus reduce our long range game; this resulted in the tacticals quickly becoming FOTM and with the nerf to them and the amount of ammo in their clip the problem for them was "solved".
The reason why some of us AR users can DEAL with the not having a reflex dot or a acog and is because for 9 months our AR's had a nice scope and we could remember how and from where we could get the same type of kills. Then about 2 -3 months ago ccp worked the ranges into the mix.
The IRON Sights is a P.O.S. and now that LR with its longer range is making a resurgence why can AR's not get at least the same ability to track an enemy or get more than a lucky headshot in. The clip size wasn't the problem. It was the freaking ROF that modded controller took advantage of.
The reduction in clip size was the solution that ccp came up with, I don't think I explained my thoughts about that well enough to make the point I was trying to make.
ie> they took away ammo, and then later on added ranges to the weapons so that snipers and everybody would stop posting that AR's had better range than said sniper rifles. |

The IRON Sights is a P.O.S. and now that LR with its longer range is making a resurgence why can AR's not get at least the same ability to track an enemy or get more than a lucky headshot in. Answer: Because ARs would be OP with a scope. Until they actually have recoil in ADS, an AR with a scope would be the ultimate weapon. Remember when the full auto ARs had sniper sights back in Replication and before? Give that to ARs today and they would be OP, or at least give ARs the same recoil as Assault Scrambler Rifles before you do. Or, to make sure everything is even, allow weapons sights to be swapped on weapons. The "red dot" (or is it yellow) sight will help the Laser Rifle significantly, let's see how well the LR performs after the update. It may not even need a damage increase if all goes well.
AR with scopes would not be op, keep telling yourself that, you can't even shoot from the table top to the northern pyramid like structures in line harvest, why must my aiming being limited while everyone and everything else gets made better, the iron sight is a joke and so is the discussion about why they don't have a scope or sight. I stand by my assertion that without the original sharpshooter skills range increase you guys are trying to defend a LASER Rifles chance to become FOTM. |

Dude, sorry but complaining with an AR, seriously? Your weapon has nearly no kick, a range with which you can step up with every single weapon except for the Sniper rifles, you have such a great precision on that weapon and this combined with a very nice dmg. Now you DARE to complain that the LR which is MADE for that distance gets an aiming system which makes it atleast usable again?Seriously? After the LR got nerfed even way over death, while your AR is still the weapon to go for? The regular AR is meant for SHORT ranges within the AR/LR/SCR/etc... range, so no, no scope for you, sorry bro.
Well aren't you just a ball of misinformation, why can the other weapons get devices that make them more effective in their ranges while I have to use the Prescision offered by a P.O.S. IRON SIGHT? Let me use the distance I do have in the most effective manor. (Of course youtube would be filled with vids of players asking why they have to shoot in front or behind an enemy or how the shots could have missed with the dot right on the enemy). Since so many people are AR users as you and those like you claim, would it be more likely to benefit more players by giving us a scope then.
According to the same post that discusses the range on the weapons ccp took a very casaual approach, sure it is a short range weapon they say the militia one goes for 40 meters or so.... I want to know why I don't know the numbers without having to go into a match and notice the information on the bottom of my screen, sure ccp plays the pronoun game and keeps everyone in the dark so they can monkey with the numbers without having to explain it. Range 40m max 60m, but no ccp keep it to short , medium and long without detailing just what distances those ranges comprise.
I know you know not of what you speak of because of the simple fact that on Line Harvest Map from the top of the Pyramid like structures in the north to the top of the TABLE is more than 80meters, my ohhh so long range tasctical AR does not do enemies damage if I stand on either structure and shoot at an enemy on the other. Additionally it is longer than 50 meters from the ground to the table top on the same map, so while everyone with a laser rifle, mass driver, forge gun, sniper rifle, flaylock pistol and plasma cannon can outrange me at will from an elevated position... ccp's only response has been your tired excuse the AR is too good.
Keep jumping on the ccp bandwagon, as I recall CCP had tons of data about the Laser NERF mostly from the fishbowl manus peaks map that ended up looking like a Pink Floyd Laser Light Show.
This is starting to feel like a troll post, shouldn't you also be stating that the Nano-hives need to be nerfed and that a player can throw a grenade 50 meters and that murder taxi's are fine, or better yet like I keep asking others, crack open that crystal ball you keep to let you know what will be FOTM and nerfed as I don't want to waste my SP on things that will get nerfed so I choose the AR. Which has had the scope removed, the range extender skills removed, the fire rate reduced (except for the mouse as ccp can't program that in to all the ones that they have approved for use with dust, while the PS3 controller can easily be manipulated) and a POS Iron Sights that is only useable 1 out of 5 firefights. |
