6m SP, listing only stuff that requires a notable investment.
Suits: gal assault lvl 1 gal scout lvl 1 gal logi lvl 3
Weapons: grenades 1 handheld upgrades 3 Light Weapon Op 3 Sidearm Op 2 AR 5 w/ proficiency 3 SCR 2 SMG 2 Snipers 3 Assorted other weapons & sidearms at 1
Dropsuit Upgrades: Dropsuit upgrades 4 Biotic upgrades 3 (1% sprint/stam) Armor Upgrades 5 Armor Plates/repair 3 each shield upgrades 2 core upgrades 4 electronics 3 engineering 2 Uplinks 2 repair tool 2 nanocircuitry 3 hacking 1
assorted other crap.
as you can see, aside from heavy (but not insane) investment in a single weapon, i'm pretty immune to nerfs. I can pick up another weapon if needed more or less immediately, my skills in armor aren't going anywhere, neither are my fittings, biotics, or equipment skills. Aside from being armor focused, I have flexibility in my suit choice, as the majority of my invested SP at this point will follow me around no matter what weapon or suit I use, and the majority of my SP is also invested in skills that give a benefit even if I'm using only STD suits. |

but maxxing shield extenders is not a must
It definitely is if you're shield tanking though. 33 -> 66 doubles the use you get out of a single module slot. Big deal, meaning its worth it even if you're low SP and its a big investment to unlock these.

without a penalty you can also stack one basic plate with a ferroscale without much penalty in speed
on the repair systems, thats a lot of SP to go from 3.45 hp/s per enhanced module to 5hp/s per complex module, not to mention the fittings cost if you're not using a proto suit. For me, a gal player, upping armor plates/repair from 3/3 to 5/5 seems like not a high priority, at least not compared to a new shield player getting complex extenders.
Also, the "not much penalty" from using a ferroscale with another plate is a bug and INCORRECT application of the stacking formula by CCP. They are very embarrassed by this, and will not acknowledge it. Suffice to say how the stacking penalty formula works is not up for debate considering how well it is understood by the playerbase of Eve. The entire point of the stacking formula is that 1 heavy plate and 1 light plate should NEVER be faster than just one heavy plate. If it is, then its broken, period. If CCP is using a bug as a stealth buff to armor with these modules, then that's very naughty of them and again, they will never publicly acknowledge it.

but I still wouldn't pass up specing out the AR to lvl3 for the GEK
and then throw sharpshooter 5 on it
Why would you ever train sharpshooter 5 instead of finishing AR OP 5 and getting both kick reduction AND unlocking raw damage from the proficiency skill AND unlocking the duvolle + variants to boot?
I have AR spec 3 but sharpshooter 1, is this really a necessary skill at this point? If it doesn't improve the range of the weapon, then I don't need it, the spread is already insanely low for me. |

ah i see it goes from 3 base to 5 base, so 3.45 hp/s w/ advanced to 6.25hp/s w/ complex, that said, the logi rep bonus just makes the complex armor repairer less necessary (compared to say fitting 2 complex vs 1 complex on an assault suit, where the difference would be pretty big).
I'm not sure what you mean by "penalty applied from that new value." The penalty has to do with your base speed and the armor mods you're using, fitting a normal plate and a ferroscale should give the exact same speed as a normal plate and a repper.
I understand SMGs are good, I use them for sidearms, but my point was that training AR OP 5 and putting the rest in proficiency should ALWAYS be better than AR op 3 plus AR sharpshooter 5. |
