I don't know if this is being talked about, but for the love of god can someone please tell the art team or weapon guys to tone down the muzzle flash on a few weapons?
In particular the AR (when using ADS) and HMG (all the time) are so bright it's actually difficult to make out targets as they move, especially in a dark environment. Just making it a little less extreme isn't going to be game breaking or anything and would be a hell of a lot easier on the eyes, thanks. |

I heard a rumor that you're a terrible player and you have no districts.
Any truth to this? |

Seriously, this is only issue if you either have your brightness set up to high or you play in a dark room, that will actually bust up your vision.
This is a non issue on CCP's part. Just tone down your brightness levels in system options.
Brightness levels have nothing to do with it.
The muzzle flash actually covers the entirety of the screen, and enemy dropsuits. It is the color levels.
By adjusting brightness you make the dropsuits brighter as well as the muzzle flash. Adding value to both does not change the situation. |

Also your settings check them and post them if you get the pictures in.
I don't have the proper equipment to take a decent screenshot, but here is something King Kobrah posted a while back that should make the situation fairly apparent.

Are you really going to sit here and tell me you DONT lose sight of your target when you shoot? I want you to take a look at this image and tell me you can still see the target's dropsuit. http://i.imgur.com/2MCdABk.jpg
So as you can see, adjusting brightness wouldn't do anything. You'd just make the muzzle flash itself brighter. That's not solving the problem, really.
I can tell you from experience that the HMG muzzle flash is just as bright and covers even more of the screen, regardless of ADS. |

I could believe that. I don't really use it myself, but considering what they've done with these other two weapons it makes sense. |

Well forge shakes, but it doesn't really flash. In previous builds it made the ambient flash a bit, not really this one. |

Glad everyone is so enthusiastic, but my HD Hauppauge is dead. Wish it wasn't, but yea.
Any other volunteers? |

So you would rather aim via chevron than model? |

Going in game and checking them out, I would say the largest priorities go in this order.
1. Scrambler Rifle 2. HMG 3. AR (purely when using ADS)
The Scrambler Rifle is just insane, it's all over the place with its brightness. Something needs to change there, drastically.
The HMG is a close second. The muzzle flash blocks most of the predicted killzone, so you have to track via chevron. This can become incredibly difficult when multiple targets are on screen as the chevron is the same color as the muzzle flash and everything starts to bleed together.
The AR issue, while annoying me at first, seems actually pretty minor compared to the other two when I looked at them side by side. The issue is primarily during ADS, and it's that the muzzle flash is pure color with no translucency, so it blocks everything you are aiming at. It's a small area that the muzzle effects, so most people know when the target has moved from that area, but when you have micro strafers that do very quick movements inside that area they can become an issue to track.
The AR ADS is primarily used from range, so the farther you are fighting at, the more that small muzzle flash area is actually effecting you in combat.
While a bright muzzle flash is certainly dramatic, it is not at all useful for the shooter. I think we can probably find a happy medium somewhere, perhaps with either an adjustment to the rate at which the flash occurs, or from the overall translucency of the flash itself? |

Between some muzzle tuning and the aiming update, 1.4 looks to be turning out rather solid.

You have to be able to aim first. |
