You sound as if something in life is bothering you. Would you like to... talk.... about it? EVE is too hard for him, therefore the common response is fear followed by rage at things that are different and/or incomprehensible.

One of the largest potential future employers is about to get annihilated off the map entirely. After TEST that would leave only two major power houses left I think on the entire galaxy. Unless Goonswarm fracture that may get reduced to one eventually and well one guy with no enemies means none of you get hired by them to take over anything by the time we get let loose in player empire territory.

And that is why you should start caring now.

Unless they do the smart thing and let us essentially play pirate and go about wrecking things for ***** and giggle to stir things up
Pandering to much to the EVE playerbase, which has a ton of care bears judging by how they react to not constantly having an advantage, will suck what little fun there is to be had out of Dust completely

If Test didn't have an advantage they would not have committed to the fight anyways.

PS: Fountain is where I found 16 out of my 19 officer spawns...all while PVP'ing. Love that region

They said that about ASCN and BOB years ago

A bigger fish will always emerge...and round and round it goes. Even if TEST falls, that doesn't mean its players simply quit the game.

Common knowledge that this was intended to be the final charge in a hopeless fight to save Fountain. Because it was hopeless. But they formed up anyway. A lot of times people don't commit without the advantage, but this time they did.

"Today we fought in 6VDT. We didnGÇÖt fight to save the station, we didnGÇÖt fight to win an ISK war, and we didnGÇÖt fight to turn the war around...

We fought because TEST stands together in the face of certain, guaranteed death.

I wanted to give Fountain one HELL of a sendoff, and it's incredibly appropriate that it took place in our home system of 2+ years. " - http://themittani.com/news/post-6vdt-test-state-alliance

And yes this is a post-loss quote, but they went into the fight with the same attitude pretty much. Supercapital fleets and friends had left, this battle clearly over before it began, yet it still happened.

Yeah, the player-driven economy/story in EVE is pretty cool.

I remember how involved I was in EVE politics during the ASCN times. It was almost like real politics with intrigue and lots of betrayal

Yeah that kind of ties into what Im saying, for all their talk of EVE being a harsh place most capsuleers are a cowardly lot which is why you get this big alliances that just sit there feeding on smaller fish
You need a chaotic element doing things just for the hell of it to keep things interesting and CCP needs to keep that in mind when figuring out exactly how Dust mercs are going to interact with the rest of New Eden so that chaotic element is still present

You could never coordinate such large fleets if it was like Wing Commander.

It would be great if it did, but then you couldn't have such large battles. it's essentially a turn based combat that runs in real time when battles are small and lag is low, but shifts into time dilation when the server can't keep up. That's fine for turn based play, but it would kill FPS play as everything went into slow motion.

You sound as if something in life is bothering you. Would you like to... talk.... about it? EVE is too hard for him, therefore the common response is fear followed by rage at things that are different and/or incomprehensible. I haven't personally played myself, but it just seems like "click and watch" to me.
If eve wasn't so unique, I doubt anyone would play

Its click and watch where you have a choice of 15,000 different modules, 500 different kinds of ships on your end and your enemies are just as limited to the same sort of choices, which results in nearly massive non-infinite number of combinations any number of sides could have show up to this fight in. Luckily only 2 showed up this could have been a four or three way. Fleet Doctrines, logistics, months of planning finally getting executed.

The Fall of Fountain was a massive undertaking overall by an extraordinarily large number of players of all sorts making it this event possible. Like a well executed raid with no known possible outcomes or known phases of the fight all of it unknown.
