Faction Fighter - Your dedicated to your particular faction with bonuses attached. Obviously more scope when the specific equipment comes into play. Pros - Decrease in SP cost to faction skills & equipment but also still access to allied stuff. Con -Can only participate in engagements to defend or support that faction (and their allies MM & Gall, Amr & Cal)
Obviously something for the distant future cus at present there is not enough gear. e.g my MM guy would only be able to use Gall vehicles at present. Nice but not much choice. Also I seems strange that a Amarr suited guy can call in a Cal HAV to defend for the MM
I proposed this because I'm concerned for the future development and the question of balance that keeps coming up. (any old time Warhammer 40K players may remember what broke the 2nd Ed was the abuse of certain equipment combo's. The vast choice meant the designers didn't see how over powered it could be till way too late)
This is a bad idea, in my opinion.... and not in keeping with CCP's general SANDBOX concept for Dust and EVE .....
What I would have suggested to CCP is to rather than bring out Faction suits like we have now we simply have two suit tiers, tech 1 and tech 2, and corporate Dropsuits....essentially 3 dropsuits per suit type per faction ranging from light to heavy all of which can have the standard generic frame until CCP releases more.
E.G- Light Medium Frame AKA "Force Recon", Medium Medium AKA "Assault", Heavy Medium AKA "Heavy Assault"
Caldari Kaalakiota Force Recon- 190 Shield 90 Armour Caldari Ishukone Assault- 210 Shields- 120 Armour Caldari Lai Dai Heavy Assault- 230 Shields 150 Armour
Gallente Creodron Force Recon 90 Shield 190 Armour Gallente Allotek Assault- 120 Shield 210 Armour Gallente Roden Heavy Assault 150 Shields 250 Armour
All suits have same slot lay outs even Tech 2, except tech 2 have more CPU and PG, as well as unique abilities and colour schemes.
Factionalised Suits are simply reskinned corporated suits, with more specific bonuses to comply with the style of that races war fare.
This way there is no imbalance between the suit types in terms of EHP excluding the SP gap or suit bonuses.
I don't feel like players should be forced to set their path as soon as they start the game, much like EVE you should be free to shape your own path.
However I do like the idea of a sort of shifting job/ alignment feature that takes your actions into account and modifies your rewards and experiences. |
