Beyond the halls of the Summit lies a set of double doors, set in tempered Caldari steel. On each is the mark of the Kaalakiota, a fitting corporation to sponsor such a fine structure. Through the doors however, the scene quickly swaps from one of raw industry to subdued beauty. The Temple itself pays a stark contrast to the opulent cathedrals of the Amarr. Rather than reliefs of gold, the walls are lined with humble stained wood. In the center, rather than massive statues of religious figures, there is a single stone platform where stewards may pray for the strength of their ancestors. Surrounding the platform are magnificent gardens of fantastical plants from other worlds. Pathways circle through the gardens until they open up into different shrines and areas of rest. Benches are spaced before ponds of fish, inviting passerbys to come and ponder all of creation for a moment. The roof of this fantastical structure is held up by large stone pillars. Towards the far end of the room, the roof gives way to an open air balcony, allowing the wind to flow freely through the gardens. Above the center stone, there is a circular skylight, open to the elements above it. When it rains, dozens arrive to kneel upon the stone and request the favor of the great Storm Wind, from whom all soldiers receive their guidance.
Several offices in adjacent rooms are connected by sliding paper doors, in which individuals are free to worship as they see fit. Two different bathhouses are marked with seperate statues: A kitsune for females and a tanuki for males.
Peace, balance, and serenity come to mind when you enter the structure. All in all, Galm was proud of how well his money was spent. For the first time, here was a temple where he hoped Intaki, Caldari, and Achura could all coexists as children of the Winds. |

Denak enters the temple after he was done closing his emissary, investigating the metal doors leading inside, only to be shocked by the sudden change in contrast. Still dressed in his formal attire, he was careful not to step or hit any of the beautiful plants as he walked further into the temple, smelling the mix of different plants and listening to the silent sploshing of the fish in ponds. This place felt so familiar, it felt like, home, back in Intaki V.
The garden pathways reminded him of the temples where Idama lived in and shared their wisdom, a place he often visited as a child and still occasionally does when he has the time. This was certainly a place he would be visiting again in the future. As he made his way through the garden, he eventually walked over to the open balcony, feeling the wind blowing over his face, taking in on the fresh air, he had missed the smell, too often battlefields were filled with toxic air, and the air inside space stations was often too restricting in his opinion.
After a few moments, he returned into the gardens, taking note of the bronze statue in the far back of the temple, catching a brief glimpse of Galm standing there and looking at it. Deciding to not disturb, he only gave a silent wave and a smile, before resuming his exploration. When he discovered the offices, he quickly entered one of them, noticing it was fairly simple, with only paper walls and a wooden ceiling and supports, decorated with a single lamp hung on the ceiling, lit by a candle inside.
After a moment of investigating, he carefully took the burning candle out of the paper lamp, careful not to damage either, and placed the candle in front of him on the floor, sitting in front of it cross legged and his arms resting on his legs. Looking intently at the candle and its fire gently flicking to his calm breathing for a few moments, he eventually closed his eyes, letting out a deep exhale. Then he just sat there, not moving an inch, saying nothing, thinking nothing, completely shut off from outside distractions. If it wasn't for the candle illuminating his shadow on the paper wall, there was no other sign that anyone was even in the office. |

Galm spots Denak from the corner of his eye. He seems happy with the fernishings before he ducks into an office, allowing Galm some time to be alone. It brings a somber smile to his face as the sight brings a series of bitter-sweet facts to a boiling point. For all the time Galm had spent into learning the ways of his father, the ideals of the Intaki were practically unknown to him. And yet... This place... Something spoke from within him when he was inside it. Somewhere deep down, he knew that his Intaki half was content. |

Denak stayed in his office for a good few hours, before "waking up" to the fact that the candle had burned halfway through right now. Carefully setting it back inside its lamp, he walked out of the office, noticing someone else in an office not far from his. Figuring it was Galm, he decided to wait for him to come out again on the nearby pond, watching the fish swim in it. |

"Welcome my friend! I do hope that I did well designing the structure. I managed to appeal to Kaalakiota for some assistance building the facility. When I convinced them that it was a golden opportunity for public relations, they quickly picked up a decent bulk of the costs. I only wish more disciples might enter soon, I would hate to see this place be ignored. Maybe it was the doors, I knew I should have furnished them to mirror the interior."

I would also like to see more than just us visiting this place, but from what I've seen not many follow The Way, much less Ida." He speaks as they walked through the paths, glancing at all the different plantlife. "Have you tried advertising this place? He looks around curiously at the temple's ponds and gardens, running a hand through his blonde hair in surprise. He was not quite expecting this beyond the bare steel doors. He begins to walk around, looking for Fae. He makes a conscious effort to not enter the central shrine, or even gaze at it, as though even its sight were venomous to him.* |

Sure, I could change the doors... But I would miss seeing that look on newcomer's faces.
"Ah my friend, welcome! It is good to see an imperial. Even if we do not share a faith, I am always happy to help us all understand one another."
*He takes note of Metsar avoiding the shrine and chuckles lightly to himself, shaking his head with a grin on his face*
"You don't have to go out of your way to dodge any shrines in this temple. I hoped for this to be a place of both reverence and understanding. No one here will judge you for how you worship or what god you pray to."

Denak looks at Maikyl entering the temple coming across Galm walking along the paths with him. "Namas sarumin Metsar." He greets the Imperial, followed by a deep respectful bow, keeping his hands behind his back. After listening to their conversation for a while, it seemed that Maikyl and Galm were friends and were discussing medical matters, he decided to step a few steps away from the two. "Don't let me disturb your talk." He speaks to them, turning around and walking over to a bench with a view of the pond, observing the fish again. |

Galm shoots back and fourth through the facility, eagerly tipping his head to various monuments and shrines scattered through the gardens. With a slight dance he ducks into an office before reemerging with a warped cylindrical package. He hops onto the base of one of the columns that holds up the roof to the temple, gazing out of the balcony and onto the horizon of the beautiful planet beyond. He eyes it eagerly, as if waiting for an old friend. A slight breeze grazes his check as the sound of thunder rolls in the distance.

In the garden, a darkly-clad figure passes outside the bathhouse. Her padding footsteps falter, then stop, before the kitsune statue. Her head cants to the right, one ember eye burning in a mask of royal blue. She circles it slowly, perhaps admiring the workmanship. She does not even seem to notice the first few tentative drops of rain smacking onto the stone.
Her circle complete, she pauses once more before the statute, and bows, polite and formal, murmuring, or hissing, something in Achuran through her teeth. |

Denak had quietly entered the temple from his own accord, carrying a bundle of items in his arms, wrapped in a brown cloth and quietly walking along the paths. He briefly noticed the darkly-clad figure bowing to a statue, barely acknowledging her as his mind was deep in thought about other things, his gaze switching between the bundle in his arms and the path below him, the only sound emitting from his was the sound of his footsteps.
Soon he found his way to the offices, sliding one of the paper doors open and stepping inside, leaving his shoes outside and leaving the door half-open to let the air flow inside, sitting down cross legged in the middle of the room. He set the bundle he was carrying aside, opening the knot and starting to sort the items stored within it in front of him, one by one. Now laid in front of him was a candle, a box of matches, a ceramic bowl, various different spices, a short, thick wooden mixing stick and a knife.
Denak simply looked at the items for a while, sighing quietly to himself and reaching for the candle and box of matches, lighting up the candle to prepare himself. |

Having thoroughly wasted an extented period of time tracking the nearby storm on his augmented vision, Galm sinks down onto a nearby bench. He watches closely as pools of fish silently track their circles in the pond. It seemed like as good a time as any to come to terms with certain facts about his own condition.
He loses himself in thought as time seems to accelerate around him. A crash of thunder brings him to his senses long enough to catch the sight of the first few raindrops scattering across the grounds. His joy is almost palpable, causing him to grin like a child as he combs his hair to the side and pops on his military cap before picking up his package.
About time!
Eagerly, he rushed in the directon of the central shrine, zooming past a rustic figure clad in Matari armor. For an second or two Galm doesn't seem to notice, continuing forward wearing an almost giddy expression. When he finally registers that he has a guest he stops in his tracks, does an slight doubletake, and spins back around.
A Matari... In my temple... Odd.
She seems oddly fixated on the statue positioned in front of the female bathhouses. Her lightly armored form makes her seem deceivingly frail, but Galm had learned by now to withhold judgement until he had a chance to properly size a mercenary up. His augmented vision glows a dim gold, analysing her from head to toe. Normally shaking her hand and asking her name would have been enough, but time was short.
"Ah Ryeon-haani!" he blurts, tucking his parcel under his shoulder and giving an elaborate bow, "I didn't recognize you, you... Well, to be honest I have never seen you in anything but a stock clone before. It can be hard to identify you."
Galm gives an awkward smile, scanning the temple left to right.
"Have you seen Denak? He tends to come and go, and I would hate for him to miss the first storm of the season. Forgive me, it is just a tradition that I love to share. Caldari pride, Storm Wind, blah blah, etcetera etcetera."
He flips his cap up slightly, letting his hair just barely stick out from under it as his eyes swap to a cool blue tint.
"It is good to see you. It will probably take some time for the storm to pick up. Please, could I offer you anything?"

"Denak ... so Mr. Kalamari has become involved in your project, here? ... hm. That is encouraging. Also, I do like your taste in statuary." She glances back at the stone kitsune a moment before lifting her attention to the clouds. Her voice is calm to the point of serenity.

Denak continued doing his own things within the office he occupied, apparently mixing up something in the bowl with the various spices he had taken with him, the knife remaining aside him for the time being while the candle was the only thing lighting up the otherwise fairly dark room.
As he heard the storm coming in the background, he started to hum something in a low, vibrating tone, finishing the mix he was making in the bowl, taking the knife to his hands, pressing the blade gently against his palm, gazing at the blade for a few brief moments before rolling the blade against his palm. then did a vertical slice, cutting a small wound on it and letting the blood trickle out into the bowl set on the floor. After tying up the wound with the cloth he brought with him, he took the candle and lit the mixture in the bowl on fire, a gentle scent starting to fill the room as the fire was burning. Whatever he was doing, he seemed to be quite focused on the matter. |

Oh good, I got the statues right too.
"Tea on the balcony it is then!" Galm spouts, happy to be a good host.
He motions towards the porch at the far end of the gardens before trotting off with a speed that seems halfway between a spiritually enlightened stroll and a militaristic jog. He ducks briefly into one of the paper offices before reappearing a short time later balancing a traditional Caldari tea set on a steel platter, all the while keeping his wrapped package tucked under his shoulder. The scene is enough to make anyone realize that most of Galm's actions seem unrehearsed and improvised. Child-like even.
A slightly unsettling effect when one realizes he has probably killed more men than can easily be counted.
"I was unsure what your preference was, so I have prepared a kettle from kresh leaves. If you find it too strong for your liking then I have a selection of spiced Intaki teas and Achurian blends aswell."
He sets the tray and the parcel down on a small table near the railing of the balcony and prepares two cups.
"Personally however I always found kersh to be a bit more suitable for ceremonial occasions. Which I suppose this is!"
He motions upwards, just as Ryeon had before, smiling. He breathes out contently, shutting his eyes for a moment.
"Yes, when I began this project our Intaki friend was the first man I contacted. It is refreshing to have someone around who is so well versed in the part of me I have long suppressed. I suppose we all have a side we have kept hidden from ourselves, and he helps me remember that."

Denak quickly snapped out of his trance when he heard something on the paper office next to him the incense he mixed still burning and filling the room with its exotic aroma, some of it probably seeping out of the office to the surrounding garden. As he paid attention to his surroundings, he heard footsteps outside and some talking, they must have been Galm and Yun, judging by the voices. He looked at the bowl intently, before he closed the lid and extinguished it, starting to mutter out words in a low, almost chanting tone.
"Namas, ahm mahrajaash. Suucaya aahmkitah hyevratu ahm, tathcaa suucayd qhoikta ahm.
Ahm naaymedha tah, tah naaymedha ahm.

After he was done speaking, he bundled up his items back into the brown cloth, shaded red from the blood that seeped out of Denak's wound, which had already healed thanks to the nanites in his body, only leaving a vertical scar on his palm. He tied the cloth back together, stepping out of the office and gazing at the storm coming. As he looked around, he noticed Galm and Yun at the far end of the garden drinking tea, deciding to walk up to them, greeting them with a deep bow, his arms tucked firmly against his body.

"We may need another pot of tea." Denak continues bowing until both Yun and Galm had greeted him, setting the bundle he was carrying farther off near the edge of the pathway.
"A storm viewing party sounds nice, and so would some tea right about now." He replies solemnly, looking at the seats Galm and Yun were occupying and looking for a third one. Even if there wasn't a chair for him, he was more than willing to sit on the ground.

Denak heard Galm walking towards them, standing up again upon noticing that he was delivering a big tray of teas and different fixings to spice the said teas. He silently thanked Galm with a bow of his head, taking one of the cups on the tray, pouring tea into it, leaving it at that and adding no further fixings to his tea. Upon the first sip, he instantly had a lovely burn on his tongue from the spiced tea. "Hmm, really good tea, thank you Galm." he thanks, while looking at the seat Galm had offered him, shaking his head politely and sitting back down on his spot on the ground.

Galm shrugs slightly and takes a seat, unwilling to argue about who is more deserving of a stool.
"I am well I suppose."
He looks out at the storm, which has picked up significantly by now. He closes his eyes once again and mouths a silent prayer, basking in the power of the storm. When he has finished he looks back up at his guests and removes his cap, setting it on a nearby table as he picks up his parcel. It is wrapped in simple brown paper with red twine holding it all together. He pulls the knot and unwraps the package, revealing a Rataa era officer's sword.
"I was planning on waiting until the storm to open this. What better way to crisan such a fine weapon than in the presence of Storm Wind herself?"
The blade in tucked away in a forged saya. The hilt seems fine crafted to fit Fae's grip perfectly. He draws the sword, exposing a meter long blade. Pressed into the steel is a simple phrase in Caldari military block letters,
Iskki kuzutuaya, nizu elaakan ryi.
With the press of a button on the hilt the entire blade energizes, not unlike a modern Nova Knife.

Having quietly taken a mouthful as she watched Galm draw the more-than-slightly updated blade, Yun Hee almost chokes on her tea as the blade charges and electrical arcs begin to fizz along its length. She then carefully swallows, never taking her colorless eyes off the blade.
"Fae-haan," she says, her tone tense but conversational, "you are now holding in your hand, in close proximity to quite a bit of unshielded flesh and several unhardened objects, what appears to be a charged plasma weapon whose battlefield counterpart can potentially pierce an Amarr Sentinel's shield and armor in two strokes. I presume you have a method for safely releasing the charge short of the usual method-- venting it?

"I had neglected to think of that," Galm says in a monotone fashion, trying not to alarm anyone. That's twice now he has let something potentially lethal go over his head. He struggles to remember if he were this careless as a baseliner.
"Well judging by the fact that I am still standing here..."
That was about the moment when he starts to realize how hot the hilt is becoming.
"Hmm... Please excuse me for a moment
Still refusing to show even a hint of panic, Galm casually walks a few meters away, the hot metal beginning to sear his flesh. He studies the weapon for a few seconds.
"Ah."
He easily figures out the safety mechanism that powers down the blade without forcing it to vent all at once. He looks around slightly confused for a place to toss the glowing blade without having it melt through the floor. His attention is immediately drawn to one of the nearby fish pools.
****. Sorry guys.
He tosses the sword into the pool, which erupts into a plume of steam.
He walks back carefully, observing his blistered hand.
"A thousand apologies. I have a horrible habit of not reading the instructions anymore. I guess I have become too accustomed to just downloading a skill book and that being that. Forgive me, but perhaps we ought to get down to brass tacks before I find another chance to accidentally kill someone."
A clap of thunder erupts through the temple.
"Don't be so melodramatic," he whispers softly to the wind. |

Denak opened his mouth as if to speak when Galm revealed the sword and energize in his hold. But when Yun spoke first about the fact that waving a large nova knife-like sword around unprotected people and objects might have not been such a good idea, he decided to remain silent and continue sipping his tea, keeping a close eye on the blade in case something happened.
But Denak instantly noticed the pain the hilt started to inflict on Galm, even if he didn't show a hint of pain on his face, then again the smell of burning flesh and quiet sizzling was fairly obvious to notice. After he had finished his tea, he calmly stood up to fill it again, just in time for Galm to join them again, taking note of his blistered hand.
"Well, considering that I cut my palm open intentionally with a knife, it is quite alright." he assures Galm, bowing his head in understanding as he sat back down on the ground, looking at his scarred palm. "And besides, the nanites in your body should take care of the blisters soon enough. The fish are probably not so lucky though." he adds, looking at the pool he had discarded the sword into, steam was still slowly rising from it, along with a few dead fish.
"Beklaand." he muttered under his breath while sipping at the tea, looking up at the storm, and feeling the wind blow at his face. "Do you have something else scheduled for our entertainment while we look at the storm?" |

"Why to fight ..." Yun Hee's colorless lips curve into a sphinx's smile. Her eyes turn to Galm. "Yes ... that is the sort of question a human being would ask." Her voice has taken on a unsettling sing-song.
"For a capsuleer combat pilot, one who hunts other capsuleers, the answer is simple: to a creature that destroys fleets of conventional ships as a matter of course, the only victim worth hunting is a peer. Nothing else compares. Nothing else really even counts as a fight.
"The rest is just wetwork, murder, the capsuleer's daily bread: bounties paid; mission rewards; salvage. Work.
"Few can make a living as pirates, hunting their kin-- the only beings worthy of their skills. Yet they do it anyway, to prove that they can. Despite CONCORD and its laws, despite the great powers, despite even the cunning and cruelty of their fellows ... they hunt one another.
"Why fight? We have a banquet laid before us: foes without limit, challengers without end, continual opportunities to test and hone ourselves-- to seek our perfection as blades, and earn our living thereby. We don't even have to set up a gate camp. They come to us, spoiling for the challenge. And if pain ... is to be the price of failure ... then that is all the more reason not to fail."
Yun Hee's head bows, her smile fading. Her voice loses its eerie melody.
"The question is how to keep that existence from becoming ... something empty, something self-indulgent. A perfect sword with no hand to wield it is a useless thing, or worse than useless: cursed.
"How can I be what I am, without bringing further shame upon my soul? That is the question that haunts me. I require no special reason to slay my fellows. ... But what worth will my existence have?" Her eyes wander back over to the fish pond, and the more gently-rising steam.

"Undirected, a creature who loves destruction is nothing but a blight." "For the first time Ryeon, I think I understand what you mean. Galm pulls out a datapad and taps away on it before tossing it to Denak.
"Call me a masochistic, but I feel most human on the front lines. Among other mercenaries I'm not just a blight, I'm a comrade. The feeling of purpose and brotherhood reminds me of a much more simple time."
He breaths out, his eyes swapping to a florescent orange.
"I am considering leaving Guardian Solutions, but I want to commit to one last adventure before I seek a new corporation with a bit greater purpose. The contract is noble enough. The Eos Corporation is looking for freelance mercenaries willing to help counter pirate operations in Molden Heath. A man by the name of... Blast it, I think his name was Ammos Gravit or something strange along those lines... He is looking for more soldiers to fight. All this can be supported by the information on that datapad."
His eyes revert back to a bright gold, emphasizing every change in tone. He chuckles lightly, leaning his head over the balcony and into the downpour, soaking the upper part of his uniform in a matter of seconds before turning back to the two.

What am I supposed to do if I sign it?" he asks, crossing his leg over the other while leaning against the table, before speaking up again: "I don't really have good experiences with Ammos from several encounters and discussions with him, forgive me if I'm a little doubtful." "Oh?"
Galm takes another sip from his tea.
"That is rather odd... I know little about the man. He offered me a contract and asked me to request the help of other mercenaries in the summit. You don't suppose I have been played, do you?" |

There is a dull... Something... On the tip of his tongue. At least he thinks that is were it is. No, not tip. It could be on the bottom, in the back, under the surface, behind his eyes, but something in his head just didn't feel right. Without thinking he reaches for his chest pocket and feels his small vial of Frentix. He shakes the though, trying to remain focused.
"But never mind business. Is there anything else you might need here my friends? My entire facility is open to you."

Denak listens closely to Galm and Yun Hee, stretching a little as he started drinking another cup of tea again. "For the record, I have been seeing a lot of mysterious things around Ammos, Foley was discussing something about contracts with him. Foley also was given a contract by Hally Tari-Tari to lead me into a weird location with an Eos cargo container and two Iterons given for my corporation. Ammos is planning something, and I don't like it."
He does agree though to forget about business, looking at the last rays of sunshine in the horizon. "I am fine, thank you. I was originally intending to be here for only a short time to do a ritual, this was the only place which had the appropriate quarters for it." |

"Because I am fallible. I have fears, hopes, and aspirations, which makes me flawed. Some soldiers would see to have their emotions ripped from them and turned into a perfect warrior. They would rather become a perfect weapon than a beautiful feat of life and ingenuity."

He chuckles at his own joke.

It had every reason to waste us both. Rogue drones aren't human, they are artificial. Weapons made only for destruction. Yet part of me feels like there is something human in it. Maybe I am just suffering from pareidolia, but I could swear I've seen some emotion in you. A small sliver of error that makes you more than just a tool."
Galm's eyes have shifted to a cool blue without him even noticing.

"Sorry if that somehow sounded foolish or melodramatic I... I'm not really skilled at this sort of thing."
"Mm." Yun Hee turns her face to look out into the evening. "Skilled or not, by admitting you do not really know what makes a person human, you've shown more sophistication than most. Many speak of genetics as though that were a complete answer, or talk about the breadth of human behavior.
"Drones, though ... it seems, now, a bit of a stretch to suggest that they're anything but sentient beings-- which is the problem, really. A few will still try to claim that they're just malfunctioning equipment, but they're much too animal for it to be that simple. But-- they also seem to view humans as prey. They're not what you'd call compassionate. "
The edge of her mouth quirks upward. "Your arm was probably needed for something. Just imagine what uses a drone could have for a fresh human arm."
The smile fades, and she frowns slightly.
"As for the rest, the question isn't whether I lack emotion entirely; I don't. A sparrow might feel all sorts of emotion, maybe some of it strange to us, in the manner of birds; a slaver dog certainly feels emotion-- anticipation, for one, worth drooling over. Animals seem to be more about emotion and instinctive impulse than reason. Maybe that goes for humans, too....
"When I say I am a sword, I am speaking in metaphor. I still feel fear, doubt, loneliness, anger, and on and on, but ... muted, a little. Mostly, I feel little empathy. For this among other reasons, I leave to others the questions of whom I should fight, and why. I do this so that I can focus on playing the part I am called on to play, without distractions. It is my role to be a sword in the hands of others; I choose to concentrate on playing that part well. A human can hold that role, and many have done so. So, however, could many other creatures-- a trained slaver dog, for instance.
"If I question my own humanity, I do not mean to suggest that I am a sword instead of a person. I mean that the human that I used to be is long dead, and that what inhabits this vessel is something else-- her ghost, perhaps, or something entirely different that simply pretends to be her, using her memories." She looks back at the table.
"It's a question without an answer-- I don't claim to literally be some kind of supernatural creature, and Achura Shuijing does not teach that ghosts, demons, or kumiho are literally real. It does, however, teach that stories exist for a reason-- to teach us about our world. It is possible to be literally human, but to play a demon's role.
"As I have said, there is a gap in my spirit, a pit of cold nothing, and little defines me anymore except for my soul-- or my infomorph, if you like; this blot of data behind my eyes. So the question is, do I have a damaged, but human, soul? Or am I a monster, a kumiho who only plays at being human, the better to enjoy tasty human organs?
"If I focus on being a sword, which is more or less the same part for human or monster, the question becomes less pressing. I can be either, and right-action is usually the same: do the job. The rest is unimportant." |

Perhaps I should have been a politician instead of a contract killer. Not that there is much difference of course."

"There's a lot more to this, but this is probably the simplest sample:
"I'm a kinslayer, Galm. You understand the implications? I'm sure you can infer from my talk of honor and responsibility what family means to me, in principle. In practice, I violated that bond in about the most serious way possible, and did it on a whim, casually, because I felt like it. Sometimes, very rarely, when I'm in just the right mood, I can even feel a little bit sorry about it.
"The core of my frequent feeling that I'm something other-than-human is that human is something difficult and troublesome for me to be-- not least because, if i took that really seriously, I should probably end myself. At some point, there is a question whether it is better to be a miserable, damaged human or a happy, healthy monster.

Yun's words rip through Galm like a hybrid round. As soon as he registers what she has said, his stomach drops, feeling as though he had just swallowed a brick of ice. He's not really sure what he is suppose to feel. Pity, empathy, disgust, no word seems to convey the utter dismay that overtakes him. He reaches for his tea cup and shatters it in his hand accidentally. He glances over to Denak, expecting some form of reaction out of him, then turns back to Yun's colorless eyes. He finds it hard to maintain eye contact as he beings to speak, stammering over his words.
"I--I... If you will forgive me Yun, I mustn't judge. Whoever you were before doesn't mean that is who you are today. It's just..."
The dull something behind his tongue was growing louder now. His face twitched as it tried it's hardest to claw it's way. He felt it crawling around behind his eyes, swimming through his thoughts trying to distract him. Waiting for him to slip up so it could find its way out again.
"My kin were taken from me. I couldn't imagine any person who would willingly mur--"
He twitches again.
"Who would make the same choice you have. I'm deeply sorry. I wish I knew what I could say, but I find myself at a loss for words."
That was a damn lie. Mountains of words were building up in his mind, waiting for the dam to burst so they could all go rushing forth like a torrent. He tired to think of those words, know what was amassing inside him, but every time he tried he couldn't remember. Only two or three words could surface at a time. He knew if he cast himself any deeper into those thoughts the something would be there waiting for him.
Stupid, stupid, stupid...
Pure. Must... Pure.
Extinct! All extinct!
He convinced himself the something meant nothing. Nothing could come of listening to the something, because something was very wrong with the other thing... He was the... What?
He shakes his head and the thoughts are gone. His hands are trembling heavily.
"Ryeon... I'm sorry..." he whispers, defeated.

Denak came motionless for a moment when Yun spoke, glancing over to her right after she talked about her being a kinslayer. His gaze briefly met Galm's ever-changing eyes too, his face remaining fairly blank before his eyes were set back to Yun. "She killed her own parents, Galm's were taken away and I abandoned mine. What a merry bunch we are." he thought to himself, keeping his blank expression and not speaking a word out loud. After a while, he just let out a heavy sigh, turning his head away from the two to look at the storm still raging outside.
He didn't really know what to say, the whole topic was difficult for him so he would rather stay out of it, wandering his own thoughts. Death seemed to be a popular subject for him to think about, glancing at his scarred palm again, and then the reflection of his face from the nearby pond. He was asking all kinds of questions to himself, which he was unable to answer. It frightened him, depressed him, yet he decided to keep those thoughts to himself, no use bothering everyone with it.
"I don't really have anything to say, sorry. Don't mind me." he eventually speaks to the two, before continuing to stare at the storm and listen to the rain. |

"You would have spared the feelings of Grandfather's murderer?" Her smile is liquid helium. "You thought I was a soldier, like you-- poisoned, a little bit, perhaps, by troubling experiences, but fundamentally similar, a trained killer with a battered soul; nothing darker than that. You did not understand, Fae-haan; that is all.
"The kumiho is another one of these stories that comes down from gods-know-where. It is like your kitsune a shape-shifting animal that can take human form, but there are differences. First, a kitsune may have up to nine tails, but a kumiho always has exactly nine. Second, and more important, while the kitsune may be friend or foe, a kumiho is a malevolent horror that feeds on human organs-- hearts or livers, depending on the story. She takes the form a girl or young woman so that she can prey on humans-- typically family members-- without fear of retaliation.
"I no longer consider it feasible to reach out to the Black and see where its whispers lead me. I have seen that end, and it is nowhere pleasant. But knowing that does not banish the pit of nothing in my soul. Kill a human's warmth, or dampen it nearly to extinction, and what do you have left but a predator?
"I have no particular desire to be a demon, but if I functionally am one, what does my desire signify?
"It is best, really, for all concerned that I am now confined to small, relatively frail forms, rather than bodies equipped with nuclear-tipped cruise missiles. I cultivated a taste, you see, for gardening with fire. Scatter missiles like seeds among unhardened orbital structures, and watch the flowers bloom...." Her eye wanders back to the steaming pond and its bobbing, boiled fish.

Whether intentional or not, the symbolism visibly unsettles him. He twitches once again, this time rushing for his bottle of Frentix and pouring himself a cup of tea. Hastefully, he pours a dash of the drug into his drink and takes a long sip. The tea has gone cold, but he ignores it and continues to guzzle down his cup. When he finishes his shakes seemed to have stopped, at least momentarily.
"There are few things that the Caldari covet more than kin. You can understand how foreign the concept is to me. Granted, I only ever knew my immediate family. The concept of killing your grandfather though, while still alien, seems much less of a sin then killing your own father and mother. I had suspected that you had a past as a capsuleer. I'd just never asked myself why you might have made the change.
"I suppose it was a noble act, binding yourself to such a weak form to save the world your destruction. Yet I find myself feeling a bit..."

Capsuleers often oversee the lives of many hundreds of thousands of people without even noticing that those people exist. A capsuleer rules, or, in extreme cases, is, a sort of sapient, mobile, and usually very heavily-armed city-state. It's a divine perspective. It may not be possible for a human to exist as such a being without becoming corrupt."
She sips what little remains of her cooled tea, hairless brow scowling in thought. She grimaces only slightly.
"But why I left ... I left primarily to save my own miserable hide, Fae-haan. Capsuleers will tell you they're immortal; don't believe it. We're closer to that than they are, by far. They can die, easily. They've all seen it. They all know it. They just don't like to admit it.
"Some schemes of mine had gotten badly out of control, and the consequences were approaching a breaking point. So, it was time to go: inhabit another life, and leave someone else to bury the bodies. I didn't cover my tracks quite as well as I intended, as it turned out, but ... I'm actually much harder to reach, now. I'm probably no longer worth the trouble." |

"Well, since I don't really have anything to comment and you don't seem to be needing my company, I'll be on my way." he notes, giving a small bow to both Yun Hee and Galm.
"Prataya yavati haacu bhadaanas." he says while straightening his coat a little, walking away from the two and heading towards the exit. |

Galm barrels into the temple, seeming considerably more disoriented than he did mere hours ago when speaking with Yun Hee. He hides his face behind gold trimmed aviator sunglasses and clutches at his gut in pain. He paces back and fourth, ducking in and out of offices as he searches for supplies. Eventually he locates a syringe and jams it hard into he sternum.
He walks back out into the temple and rests his full weight on one of the stone statues, slouching over as he curls in on himself. He tucks his head into his bomber jacket, trying to breathe. He looks up for a moment and realizes he has a visitor.
"Ah, hello..." he begins, his words slightly slurred. The golden halos in his eyes seem to glow through his lenses as he stares Cormack down.
"Welcome. Apologies, you seem to have caught me at a bad time." |

Denak quietly entered the summit temple in the quiet early dawn, carrying a small brown bundle in his arms. The entire temple was being showered in the first rays of the blue star. It had just rained and the air was filled with the fresh smell of all the different plants in the garden, and it was a very pleasant scent. Instead heading into the paper offices like last time, he instead found himself a remote spot on the gardens with a view of the rising sun, which happened to be a fairly large rock sitting slightly off the garden path.
He sat down cross-legged on top of the rock, placing the brown bundle down and sorting out its contents neatly in front of him. It contained a brown ceramic cup, various bags of different ingredients and boiling hot water stored in a thermos flask. Humming a quiet chant to himself, he poured the boiling hot water into the cup, mixing the different ingredients which began forming a pale green, then a dark red liquid. Finally, he pulled out the final bag from the bundle, which contained dark green leaves, which he crushed and minced with his hands, pouring them into the cup to finish the drink he was making.
He chanted to himself a few more minutes, watching the blue star rising and shining its rays over him very closely, before taking a single sip of the liquid in the cup. Then he closed his eyes, remaining perfectly still, his lips moving just enough to continue his quiet chant.

Upon patrolling the garden, a young man who calls himself Sawdeth, sees Denak in the garden as if he's meditating. Curiously he walks right by Denak.
Sawdeth is wearing a Amarr heavy dropsuit, in origin. The Amarr emblem was seared off in its place is a symbol of the Caldari State Peacekeepers although he looks like he's mid to high ranking no more than a mere Captain.
"There is more than meets the eye, especially in combat." Said Sawdeth to himself out loud hoping that Denak would get the message clear to him. Then the Captain slowly walks away toward the edge of the temple garden.

Denak could hear the footsteps approaching long before Sawdeth could notice him, but he remained still. Even as Sawdeth walked by, watched him curiously and spoke out loud, he didn't even flinch and remained still. When the footsteps began getting quiet again, he snapped out of his trance-like meditative state, glancing down at his cup, then at the person walking away. He sprinkled one more ingredient into the liquid before downing the rest of it, packing all his things back into the bundle, making his way to Sawdeth.
"It is not shameful to not know, it is shameful to not ask." He replied, bowing to the Amarrian as a greeting. It was rare that there were visitors to the Summit, as he seemed to be its most frequent user, so whenever he saw a new face, he got curious.

Right as Sawdeth was about to finish he'd noticed something strange about Denak Kalamari, maybe a familiar face he'd seen years ago.
"As I've been through countless battles, many casualties on both fronts. I'm beginning to think and believe that we were once human souls upon volunteering for the program. Then two CONCORD officers walk by while Sawdeth gave them a deep grin while the two officers are laughing about themselves as they walk to the other room.
"Be careful what you wish for, you might receive it."
Then Sawdeth walks away and goes back on patrol.

His face looked old and had been through a lot of combat even before becoming a clone soldier, the most notable feature being the remaining scar from a scald on his right cheek. He had many other smaller scars too, which were nearly invisible if you didn't look for them. Of course these weren't his original scars, his original body had withered away a long time ago, he had requested to have scars added into all his clones, for a reminder of his past.
"You only lose what you cling on to." He commented about the subject of losing their human soul, before adding: "I have seen a lot, a simple answer is not likely to shock me", followed by a small nod as Sawdeth walked away again.

Denak simply watched the scene unfold, his head dipping slightly to the side while crossing his arms over his chest, sighing heavily. As Raven was rambling about with a Katana, in a facility filled with CONCORD security, he couldn't help but facepalm, the sheer stupidity of some of these mercenaries made him feel very shameful of being one of them.
"Garithiitan, prodbuhuttun tahp'foga Raven." he cursed quietly, contemplating about just grabbing that katana of his and slice him in half, security be damned. But he soon focused his attention on Galm rushing out in full armor and with a rail rifle ready to fire. Just trying to contain himself from snapping and going on a full rampage on Galm's behavior took nearly all of his energy, as he defiantly walked in front of him to stop his advance, grabbing the barrel of his rail rifle and pushing it down.
Squeezing the barrel tightly to stop Galm from firing it at nothing but himself, he spoke: "You are going to just do more damage to your temple that way", in the calmest tone possible, while he started directly into Galm's visor, his gaze drilling right through it into his eyes. If he was going to die trying to stop Galm, then so be it, at least it was going to be swift before he would wake up in the reanimation unit.
"Raven has already left, and the damage he did can be sanded out. Now stop this or you have to go through me first." he spoke again, almost pushing Galm to squeeze the trigger just enough, send that bullet right through his body and virtually disintegrate him. He really wasn't sure if he was going to stop or not, but he did not waver, keeping that barrel pointed right at him while keeping his gaze locked to Galm's, his own heart racing in a fast beat.

Galm's aim doesn't lower. If anything he tenses up even more. Behind his helmet several heavy gasps escape his lips as he remembers to breath.
"You really keen on me wasting you? Get the **** out of my way, Denak."
He doesn't say with with hate. More with... Regret. He was right, the vandal had already run off. There would be no point in chasing after him and even if he did the station security wouldn't react well to Galm's weapons. First they'd shoot him... Then they'd start asking questions...
Galm still doesn't lower his weapon at all.
"You have an astute sense of morality for a hitman."
Galm presses the barrel in harder. It's a 'Construct' line weapon. Reverse engineered, no weapon lock, and untraceable thanks to no small amount of aurum payed. CONCORD facility or no, there was no mistaking that it was perfectly within his ability to send a round ripping through anyone he damn well pleased.
Fine. Crafted. Mahogany.
Galm ejects his magazine, sending it skidding across the floor. With a sigh he flicks the safety on his weapon and empties it's chamber.
"You're right. Bullets would just end up causing more damage."
He keeps the barrel pressed into Denak, waiting for him to back away.
"On the Leviathan's back will our civilization be carried home and the taint of the Enemy purged from our souls."

Even when Galm just pushed the barrel of the gun more against Denak, his stance didn't falter, waiting to see if the next clicking sound he heard would end him or spare him. As Galm threatened him to move away, the only response he made was push the barrel directly against his heart, which was thumping rapidly and pumping adrenaline all over his body. He didn't say a word, but his gaze said all that was needed: "No, I won't. Stop."
After a moment of intense staring at each other, Denak remained still even after Galm ejects the magazine and empties the chamber, as if to make sure Galm wasn't having any second thoughts. After another silent moment, Denak took one step back, and let go of the gun, moving his gaze away from Galm's visor.
Looking at the single bullet on the ground that was ejected from the chamber, Denak knelt down to pick it up, investigating it as he was working to calm down his heartbeat, even muttering something in Intaki: "Fudektuni vaan fudektun nekedoshyl - A mild answer turns away rage."
Still remaining silent as Galm was just standing in front of him, Denak flicked out the knife he brought earlier, a 'shlick' sound emitting as the steel blade cut into his palm, bleeding all over the bullet he was carrying.
With a single deep inhale and exhale, Denak gazed back into Galm's eyes behind the visor, again taking a step towards him. But instead of grabbing the gun, he took Galm's arm and placed the bullet, now covered in Denak's blood, onto his palm, encapsulating it in his fist afterwards.
"Even as a hitman, you avoid unnecessary damage." Denak explained to Galm, gazing into his eyes for one last time, rubbing the fresh scar that appeared on his palm after the nanites took care of the wound with his thumb, it was the fifth one he had made.
"Prataya yavati." Denak said as he just walked away to the paper offices to clean the blood and contemplate for some time, Galm being free to follow if he so wished.

"Prataya yavati." Denak said as he just walked away to the paper offices to clean the blood and contemplate for some time, Galm being free to follow if he so wished.
Galm looks down at the bullet silently, the blood dripping over his glove and onto the floor. As Denak turns to leave, Galm finally speaks.
"Rikaato... Suuolo. Please give me a moment to collect myself."
With this, he turns back around and enters the same paper office he had just exited. Inside, a striking transformation had completely reformatted the room from a peaceful domicile to an armory in a matter of seconds. Carpets and wood paneling had lifted up to reveal rows upon rows to weapon racks holding everything from Mass Drivers to CreoDron rifles modified to carry 'Toxin' ammunition. In the rear a military grade CRU rack carries no less than six clones prefit into various loadouts, displaying each one like a vending machine. Beside it Fae's leisure body lays dormant in an unfilled pod, still wearing his fine pressed uniform.
Galm sets the bullet on one of the nearby weapons racks and eases himself into the CRU. He shuts his eyes as it lifts his body into the machine carefully.
In no time at all Galm has returned to garden, carrying with him the bullet and a wrapped package. He knocks gently before entering another office and handing Denak the package. Inside it is a HK-2 Scrambler pistol, trimmed in a polished gold and beautiful Amarr reliefs.
"I want you yo have this. It's the least I could do to apologize for my outburst. This weapon was one in a shipment I 'liberated' from a crew of slavers."
He smiles for a moment, but only for a moment. Soon he has returned to a serious disposition and bows respectfully, offering Kalamari the weapon.
"Of course, since I kept using them I kept losing them one by one in the field! Now this is the only one I have left. I've been keeping it as part of my collection or as a sidearm to wear when making public appearances in uniform and now I want you to have it. It's accurate, powerful, and easy to fire. It will serve you well. Please accept it as a token of my heiian."

In the time Galm took to head back into his paper office and do his things, Denak found himself sitting by a pond, keeping his left hand in the water, the washed away blood creating a dark red blob on the surface. His gaze seemed a little defocused, idly looking at the spreading dark red cloud coming from his hand when the remains of his blood washed away.
When Galm returned in his press uniform, Denak quickly dried his hand with the cloth he brought, looking up at him as he gave back the bullet, and a small package along with it. When Denak's hands reached to take the bullet and the package, still sitting on the floor, Galm could see how his left hand was covered in scars, accumulating together from all his little sessions.
Dark contrasted streaks went around his wrist, across his palm, over the back of his hand and small circular ones in the tips of his fingers with one long scar to connect them all, they seemed to almost form a pattern. This clone was the same he had used ever since he had first turned into a clone soldier, keeping all the damage he had sustained throughout the year.
As Denak opened the package and investigated the scrambler pistol inside, he listened carefully to what Galm had to say. Denak grazed his hand across the golden engravings, checking the ammunition to make sure it was empty, then squeezing the trigger while pointing at a nearby wall, listening to the click it made.
Personally he preferred the Minmatar made sub-machine guns with his shotgun, but he always appreciated the elegance of a scrambler pistol, Amarrian weapons and dropsuits were always the most beautiful in his opinion.
"Acuudheta aahnd nearodaav, acuudheta adyanvad nekamiaakelyl. - The wise forget insults, the ungrateful kindness." Denak simply replied as he carefully placed the scrambler pistol back into its package, glancing up at Galm to give him a brief, understanding smile. Then he promptly stood up straight in front of Galm, offering him a hand, speaking one more word:
"Rikaato."

A man wearing a cumbersome Amarrian sentinel dropsuit covered in small chinks and scratches slowly walks through the open door; his head facing downwards, focusing on his tightly clasped hands. He raises his head and speaks:
"Hel..."
He cuts himself off, upon seeing the state of the room: a dark stained mahogany wall has the glyphs "$+<$#<<%-ú-úGé¼GêÜ[-º+++ö-Ç-¦-¦^" crudely engraved in it; there are a few small droplets reasonably fresh of blood on the floor that lead to one of the small ponds, which has a slightly red tint to it's waters.
What catches his attention most of all, however, is the sight of one of the small paper offices: The boards and carpets that had once made up the floor of the room had been hastily stripped away to reveal a stockpile of arms, everything from rifles (with distinctly marked boxes of 'Toxin' ammunition next to them) to pistols, to mass drivers.
He looks up and sees a smaller antechamber with a fully stocked CRU with pre-fitted combat clones, with some more weapon racks on either side filled to the brim with Caldari rail rifles, notably lacking any manufacturer markings. Sitting on one of the rack ammo shelves is a single magnetic slug, covered in fresh blood, which was odd, considering it showed no signs of having been fired.
What happened here?_ he thought to himself, standing dumbfounded.

Gods and spirits, I need to lock that door.
Fae slides out of the office to face Occultus, who seems utterly bewildered by his surroundings. Galm doesn't bother reaching for any sort of weapon. Instead he walks forward warmly and invitingly with a wide grin.
"Welcome! Apologies for the mess, I assure you everything is fine. This was all just a misunderstanding and nobody got hurt! This temple is normally quite beautiful, but some damn fool made a mess of the place a few moments ago. Please, accept these tokens for a free soak in the bathhouse!"
Galm hands the mercenary six plastic chips that can be redeemed for five minutes in the men's bathhouse and sauna, making sure he's standing perfectly between the mercenary and the armory.

Why is he speaking so quickly? He seems rather nervous... Perha-
His mental train of thought is de-railed when Galem quickly lifts a small stamped metal box with a small plastic top, showing 6 marked chips. He picks up the clip of ammunition discarded on the floor next to him.
"Well... I cannot allow your kindness to be unrewarded! Please accept these fine hand crafted..." *Look carefully at the contents of the clip* "Err... Rail rifle slugs"
He tilts his head sideways while looking at Galm, if his face wasn't obscured by a helmet; one would probably see him sporting the grin of a Cheshire cat. He slowly hands Galm the clip and begins to stroll towards the temple exit, momentary stopping to give a small bow.

Some time ago Galm would have grabbed the nearest blunt object and proceeded to club this Gallente to death... But he decided against it. Afterall, this kakku could have gone straight to CONCORD instead of coming back any making peace.
"Eh... Thank you Raven-haan. I will find a good place for these daggers. Please, feel free to use the facility as you wish. Just don't trash the place, please."
On that note Galm retreats to his office, where he beings to lock down his armory and start making a series of calls to anyone who specializes in wood furnishing or sandpaper.

Throughout the whole scene that happened between Occult, Galm and Raven, Denak just remained sitting by the pond, looking down at the water and sighing, this whole thing was getting ridicilous. And when Raven returned and spoke again, Denak already had the urge to just punch him in the face and permanently ban him from ever entering the temple again. But sadly he didn't own this place, so he just sat there and breathed really heavily.
When the whole thing was over, Denak just gathered up his things and left, not saying anything to Galm as he was still in his office.
