Quote:In the future, it would be interesting if you could squad up with a fleet, and perhaps do some sort of linked mission(s).
For example:
Capturing the points on the ground to disable surface to space weapons, while the fleet up top clears hostiles and (clone or drone) production facilities so the ground team benefits. etc etc.
Anyhoo, I like PvE content. Anything is possible, with a little patience.
I loved that post joint missions truly epic.

Royce Kronos wrote:+1 I like the idea. PVE would really do Dust good. Although, I would suggest a slight alteration. Eris Ernaga wrote: Level 1 - Soloable in standard gear and militia gear. Level 2 - Best you use all standard gear all though possible in militia gear in a small squad. Level 3 - Best you use Advanced gear all though it is possible in standard gear in a small squad. Level 4 - Best you use Prototype gear and run in a squad as hostiles hit very high damage. Level 5 - Best you use Prototype/Officer and have high level skills you will need to be in a squad!
These are what you would expect to be using for each mission level 1 - 2 would be possible for newer players. Level 2 - 3 would be some what possible for intermediate players and small corps. Level 4 - 5 you would need prototype gear and larger corporations in order to form organised efficient squads.
Here would be my rework of the levels. Level 1 - Solo-able in Standard/ Militia gear. Level 2 - Solo-able in Advanced gear. Possible for small squad in STD. Level 3 - Solo-able in Prototype gear. Possible for small squad in AVD. Level 4 - Requires squad tactics and coordination. Possible with full AVD squad, preferably PRO. Level 5 - Challenging to full proto squad. Preferably for full proto 16 man teams. Basically what your idea, just bumped down a notch to encompass a 16 man team at the end. The difference between standard and militia isn't enough to warrant an additional level IMO. Just my thoughts.
Full squads of 6 should be the max. |

In all honesty besides adding diversity PVE would be fun, bottom line. Running with friends to clear out drones and experiencing Dust in a whole new way. PVE is a necessary part of this game just as it's necessary in EVE. |

Royce Kronos wrote:Eris Ernaga wrote:Full squads of 6 should be the max. Hmmm. So would there be any opportunity for 16 man teams in PvE? Either that, or maybe bump up the squad size to 8. Often times I have more than 6 players and it'd be nice if we could all jump into the same PvE. There is a possibility of keeping the mission levels as you stated, and additionally having an incursion mode or something. Also a horde/ wave mode.
Missions could be for 6 or one squad but as you said incursions could be bumped for 16 manned team and be more rewarding. |

Also what do you guys think about being able to switch stations to find other mission agents? It would be a necessary system and would not be done by instant travel, this promotes open world and a since of realism and immersion. If you play EVE you know what i'm talking about system to system travel through star gates. Could be done by NPC ships, the ability to see other mercs in the same ship that you are travelling in could be added sort of like the war barge. |

Escort 2 - Escort a caravan of trucks with goods in them from one base to a ship which flys the goods to space. Mission is completed when ship leaves orbit around planet with goods. Drones - All drone PVE content that CCP has already announced is coming soon should be implemented in to these missions. Point control - Protect a base from hoards of enemy waves, waves of enemys will hit the base but you must not let them hack all the points inside the base. You win when all the enemys are dead. Base assault - Assault a base filled with hostile enemys. You win when all the points in the base are hacked.
Dude these should be battle options like ambush and domination!! Your PVE game is in EVE!
Keeping these for missions agents would be nice also PVE shouldn't just be limited to EVE online unless you want to make Dust stale and boring. Games need growth and complexity saying EVE should be the only PVE game in New Eden limits that complexity. Missions would be great for doing something new while gaining isk or just having fun in a mission with friends. |

This isn't a post about balance scouts can always adapt on the field I would like to see game modes that are scout friendly. For example one where you need a low signature radius. |

Lonnar wrote:An idea I've entertained for quite some time now is the idea of boarding parties. I admit, this isn't an original idea of mine. I picked it up somewhere in the forums back in Open Beta when the idea of PvE first came on the table.
The idea runs something like this. In EvE, there's a battle about to take place between two groups. Both groups put out a DUST call for Mercs to help them in the coming battle. During the battle, select ships carry a group of Mercs near the enemy fleet and launch a boarding vessel. The vessel can be shot down before boarding. Once boarded, the mercs then have to fight thier way through the decks of the ship to get to the bridge. On the bridge they disable the ship and initiate a self-destruct sequence which causes the ship to go boom, and one less ship to take care of for the EvE fleet outside. Of course, there's every possibility the ship blows up before the mercs reach the bridge.
To counter the boarding parties. EvE pilots can invest in two different things. They can either A) Keep the hired mercs onboard to counter other mercs, giving the ground pounders some PvP action. B) Invest in boarding defence gear located inside the ship to ward off intruders.
Either of these methods will increase the time it takes for the boarding party to make it to the bridge as there would be doors to hack open, enemies to fight (NPC or other Mercs), and even automated turrets to destroy.
Naturally, we couldn't board some of the smaller crafts, and the larger ones would naturally be harder to board at a base level due to the sheer size of it and the time it would take to simply clear the decks.
To add to these ideas. Here's another one to try on.
We all (or most of us at any rate) know about Wormhole Space in EvE. It would make for an interesting Salvage-type mission to have an EvE pilot explore Wormhole Space with a team of Mercs to pick up the smaller bits.
If you'll recall the ''Immortal'' video signaling the start of the DUST Mercenaries. The discovery of our implants was made by an extraction team who got off a ship and explored the Jovian Ruins on foot. I dunno about you guys ... but I want to be the one who discovers the next major advancement in implant technology created by the Jove.
So at a basic level. While the EvE pilots do thier thing in WH Space (I don't actually know how it works myself ... I've yet to play EvE sadly). And at the same time, they drop off the DUST Mercs on a large, ruined structure, to find what they can and add it to the salvage.
The technology wasn't Jovian it was Sleeper technology they specialized in consciousness no one knows who the sleepers are at this point. |

Scouts
For tier 4 and 5 they cant contend vs proto / officer gear of other suits. Which can tank EHP, which scouts dont have. Lets hope scouts are balanced by then. In a lot of 'open world' FPS type games things like stealth and sniping can be OP due to AI being dumb in a way humans wouldn't (humans are dumb in their own special kind of way). I mean, if drones have entirely sensor based (rather than plain optical) 'vision' system... Remember in ME3 when you assault the Geth base? Joker points out the Normandy might have stealth systems, but the Geth could just look out of the window and see them coming - at which point Legion explains windows are structural weaknesses and are unnecessary since Geth can 'see' everything through sensors (which he had hacked)...
Scout balance isn't a factor a scout can adapt to the field not to mention every mention would support a role. Plus speed is always helpful what if you have to do a mission which requires fast speeds? This is where the scout would shine no need to whine about balance in this thread. |

Although, there is heavy speculation that the Sleepers are related to the Jove in some way no? ... Or am I picking up random memories and scrambling them to create complete nonsense? xD
Jovians came from Earth like all the other factions but their new found colonies in New Eden were secure meaning they didn't go through a dark era. This allowed Jovians better technology and is the reason they are far ahead of todays factions. The sleepers were one of these descendants from Earth but died out probably along time ago. They were masters of consciousness being the reason they can transfer consciousnesses to a new clone. Their drones still guard their ruins. |

KalOfTheRathi wrote:The good news is I found this via the Weekly Updates so it was noticed. Yeah you, Eris!
I have been grinding a new/test character and I typically don't squad up. The total SP is > 5M but allocated is < 1M. Which means getting Proto stomped is highly likely. So blowing things up, staying back (in my non-free militia gear) with the occasional run in to drop uplinks and to scan for Reds with an occasional sniping session works okay. Making cash and grinding SP for the pilot suit is the only focus.
PvE would make that effort fun versus a grind. K/DR is over rated but i am actually focusing on it for this character. Don't know why really. But PvE is interesting and I was wondering what your thoughts were on K/DR for PvE? Is it the same? How many suits can you drop before you consider the session lost? Or the mission a failure? Can you just abort? WP, SP and ISK earned in a battle that you joined but left or got dc'd from is added to your totals. You miss salvage (I think). So how would that work here?
Just wondering.
Those are some deep questions I will leave to CCP I imagine the mission would have a timer and it wouldn't matter if you left, d/ced, or died over and over again you could come back to the site as long as the mission was active. Say for 4 days. |
