tip #1 don't use tanks tip #2 don't use any HAV... ever tip #3 don't even think of using HAVs. tip #4 if you want to waste isk send it me. tip #5 your better off melee everyone to death tip #6 don't use HAVs.
so... you still want to use HAV and don't have wide pool of SP or ISK. tip #7 AFK 3mil sp(atleast) and save all the ISK wait for changes in armor HAVs. decide between shield and armor, by then it they should have nerfed armor reps down to shields so it doesn't matter what you pick. study every map, every side, know where every rail turret is, locate AV points and rail snipers point, find your hot routes that avoid AV and rail snipers, learn all the redzones, plan you range of fire and safe spots to fire on. then hope and pray the SL renders and that there is no FGer on that match. don't want to afk for isk well find someone loan you some isk (lol good luck) or scam for that isk. |

The Attorney General wrote:No problem, it is difficult for new tankers these days, as there are a lot of people with enough SP to dump a million into AV that will be strong enough to rip you to shreds any time you make a mistake.
Also, as a blaster tank, always be very cautious of how close you are getting to infantry. Yes, the blaster works great up close, but don't get so close to a group of infantry that they could all toss a nade at you. 3 or more AV nades will pop lower SP tanks very easily, so be cautious.
a good idea is never come closer then 30m to enemy infantry if you can help for blasters ranges i did some test to show number my post on large blasters you should never fire at effective range. so a good firing range for standard blasters are 30m-85m for effectiveness and safety vs infantry. your ideal range is around 55m. far enough that if an infantry gets mad and want to take you down you can move and leave area before your in flames and close enough that your still hitting pretty hard. |

The Attorney General wrote:Basic blaster fit, when you get your skills up it turns into a great fit for up close work:
Large Turret: 80GJ Scattered Blaster Small Turret: Missile up front, scattered balster up top.
High slots: Active heat sink and active scanner when you get them unlocked.
Low slots: 1 PG extender 2 Active hardeners 1 Armor plate 1 heavy repair
I won't tell you a rail gun fit, because as Pig said, we need to keep those ones close to the vest.
But the fit above will be viable in pretty much any match that you could field a blaster.
As for tips, one of the biggest i can give, is having a layout of modules that is pretty similar through all your fits. That way using the vehicle module wheel becomes like second nature.
Needing to look at the module layout to find what you need can get you popped. That is why I hate my Vayu sometimes, as the extra high slot throws off my usual module setup.
Another thing to consider is the methods for activating modules. If you are rolling around in your tank and you get hit by lets say a FG, then you should activate your repair followed by your hardeners, as by the time the next shot comes in , you will have both hardeners on while the rep cycle warms up. If you get hit by an AV nade, it is the opposite, as those suckers can come in hot and heavy, and not having your resistances up can be the difference between getting popped or not.
Finally, don't be afraid to pull out of a sticky situation. Just because you are in a tank does not mean that the battle hinges on you and you alone. If you find the enemy bringing AV to counter you, pull back, switch sides on the map and hopefully some infantry from your team will be able to move in and attack the AV troops. Knowing when to pull out is one of those things that comes with experience, but only practice will develop that sense of self preservation.
my basic gunnlogi fit for blasters is high: 2 heavy shield booster 2 shield hardeners 1 ward shield resistance lows: 2 local pg mods( you need lvl 4 for this) large standard blaster cycled missile small and scattered blaster small
the most important part 2 local pg mods. remove one heavy booster for a (light) shield extender till you can fit the second booster. yes i do not fit shield extenders normally on tanks, i play a bit more risky. |

Emi Love wrote:I also suggest having 2 of your corp buddys in the tank that can get out and deal with any AV infantry. The proper fits seem to have been already posted so all I can say is GL and see you out and about :)
er... no this is bad. the time it takes for them to get out and find that AV the tank is either dead or in flames about to blow up or never an issue at all. have a sniper for those building top AV goons and SL/FG supporting the sniper is 10x better then squad mates in your tank. its sad how many people overlook a good sniper can be for a vehicle. most AV are FG(slow moving) or SL (stand in place and wait for lock is the normal SL user) which snipers can make easy kills off of. and the SL/FG is so they don't get pushed off by dropships. |
