When "adapt or die" is the order of the day, you take the most flexible weapon you can. It's not the most fun, but it is dependable in most situations.
Played around with the AUR Ex-0 Mass Driver yesterday. Fun but has massive blind spots that will get you killed (slow RoF, reload speed, projectile arc can be tricky). I'll probably play it as a rear-end logi for some fun but it's not competitive for say PC. |

Are you serious ? .. with the MD you just need to have HALF decent aiming, and you can kill heavies in a couple of shots..You need a full AR magazine to kill a heavy... and most times you also need the SMG to finish them off... THAT IS FUN.
Meh, was my first time using it after using AR almost exclusively. I usually use a Gek-38 standard or a TAR with 2xComplex damage mods, takes down most heavies very fast (they can't duck and dodge like a medium frame).
My point is niche weapons are fun, in their niche. Outside of their niche they can be frustrating or a handicap. AR is ok at everything so for me it's less fun but more reliable. The TAR is more fun to me because of the design you have to play tactically to keep the enemy at mid-long range. |

So if the AR is so easy and so OP... why not everyone uses it ? and more important.. why not every AR user gets 20 kills in every match ? According to you that should be very easy.. but only few people scores 15-20 kills per match with the AR.
Not sure if trolling or not....
I'm not saying it's OP, I'm saying it's reliable. Core Flaylock's are an example of OP. Most players do run AR. Last time I did an after action analysis of a corp battle (about 6 weeks ago), the kill breakdown was as follows:

I don't consider myself anything special (in my corp I'd say I'm below average) and I get 15-20 kills regularly with ARs. |
