I have 15 million sp, but I mainly run a standard suit with a combination of avd, and militia/ basic gear. Yet I'm topping the score board in about 70% of my games when I'm playing solo. I have faced pub stomping proto players, tank zergs, lav derbies, and so on. I have proto equipment, and weapons
Why don't I use my best gear all the time? Because it simply is not challenging enough. I handy cap myself to help Improve my skills.
now, if can do all of that in a sqiushy standard suit, then why can't the rest of you do the same when using identical gear, or greater?
Replication was the only other time I actually had a proto suit. During the E3 build, I ran nothing but the standard type 2 suit. Codex was the same because I dumped a **** load of points into tanks after they were nerfed. the only proto things I had then were swarms, and ars.
I'm chrome, the highest level suit I had was the avd B series. Again, most if my points were thrown into an assortment if weapons, vehicles, and the heavy suit for some fun forge lolz.
Why do I bring all this up? Because if I can sit on **** gear, and kick ass like Amy other proto pubstomper, then you all can too. Stop complaining for your lack of skill.
Thank you.

I just want to point out that passive bonuses are a thing, your standard suit is not a new player's standard suit. |

I didn't play much prior to may, so I must ask, what were passive bonuses like then and what was the SP disparity? I played very briefly in early beta and can't recall much, but if I remember correctly several skills didn't give passive buffs like they do now. |

I never complain, I did get stomped by you guys and some other Corp the other day though. I was with 1 Corp member the rest of the team was just randoms. All I can say is it was a very quick match. The quickest ever for me even.
I've never gotten annoyed though, except for when people used those stupid Duvolle Tactical ARs... |

Doesn't matter if you're running STD or proto, your top corp 6 man squad will pubstomp any random noobs they encounter. I wish so bad that I could only play solo vs a bunch of solo players. Pubstomping isn't because of gear is because high skilled people in squads.

Hey look guys, a guy with a standard suit with some ADV gear and enough SP to max out all the core and the deadly skills is asking why newberries or lowbies can't be awesome like him.
Wow, he's so cool.
Wait, let me try.
hey broskies, I've been playing since closed beta, and I've had so much practice playing an HAV with every build that I'm like tots amazingballz knowing the "unwritten" rules of being a great HAV pilot, I tots have rad amounts of SP in my Gunnlogi, and I made mad amounts of profit doing so and like rarely lose my tank and stuff, so I'd like to know why so many players who don't h... Bollocks.
Massaging your ego much?
Because if you can sit on **** gear and **** on a pubbie's day with all the passive bonuses from your allocated skillpoints, you're still a pubstomping shitlord.
Your noobsuit is not the same noobsuit an actual newbro is using when he's just exited the Academy.
Perhaps you should handicap yourself further by starting over with a fresh toon, going Ironman, dropping corp, telling your mates to **** off, and skilling your way up in pub matches by melee-clubbing infant mercs with an empty scrambler pistol on a PS3 controller with the sensitivity set to 0?

Although, perhaps what is happening is that which happens to me... I can go 15/0 using basic gear, doesn't mean I do it often. Reflect also on the fact that maybe you're going up against unskilled players who are solo in proto gear, it's not hard to spot them and kill them. Let me know how you do alone with your basic gear. |

Just one note: a lot of the players you are up against, even the proto users, don't have as may SP as you have; this means that if you have invested all of the SP, your passive skills are still going to give you an innate advantage, no matter how much you handicap yourself. |

As many have said, 15M SP makes a big difference and augments any gear you use, including lower level militia or standard gear by large amounts. The change alone to shield and armor by skilling in the passive skills is significant (I think 25% extra shield and armor to whatever your base suit stats are)... not to mention modules, weapon damage/dispersion/kick, etc....
However, also consider that to accrue 15M skill points it takes a good amount of time (5 or 6 months, correct?) The advantage you get from playing your character for 5 or 6 months, and being in a good corporation is immense. Even if you are lone-wolfing in a STD suit your knowledge of tactics, maps, strategies, choke points, etc., etc.... is a significant advantage.
So - you really should do more considering of your situation and the situation of anyone else that may be getting 'pubstomped' before you make such bold statements about gear not (entirely) making the player; while conveniently leaving other advantages you have out of your analysis. |

I run a basic suit and in the right situation I can take out a proto with little difficulty. Its all about being smart, being in the right place, knowing when to shoot and trying to get the drop on them (thank you active scanner, my constant companion)
A proto suit is not the be all and end all - it just gives you more versatility. Its no substitute for tactical ability. If you know where they're heading set up an ambush. If they're hammering you hard fall back and change tactics |
