1.4 might be CCP's last leg. The bell lap of the race.
I honestly HOPE there's new content in 1.4 and not just fixes. People are grateful for the minor fixes, but the lack of content and the lack of reason to play other than grinding SP is chasing people away.
Look I have all the stuff I need for my role and then some, so SP grinding means nothing anymore. I'm a competitive gamer and came here for PC and corp matches. Now PC is dead.
I have no new heavy suit to skill into, I have no new pistol I want to try. I have no new map to play on. I have no new game mode to tryout. I have no reason to play FW.
These are problems that existed for far too long.
Now this isn't just about a "doom and gloom" post. There were some decent points made by the CPM. I'm sure IWS will post all the Q&A.
But this quote is what grabbed my attention cuz if the CPM knows this, then CCP knows this. So I hope they realize adding new content will go a long way in keeping some players playing DUST.
It's hard to explain, but while every fiber of my mind wants to agree whole-heartedly with the emotion, the cold fact is that we bitched up a storm for 2 solid months on aiming, mechanics, SP, weapons, and suits being OP or nerfed. What did anyone honestly suspect?
Maybe this comes as a shock to most of us, but their is no "solution" to this game. All we have are trade-offs and we need to make our expectations more clear and well-known. CCP is not communicating a solid list of future features, then by all means, let us ourselves make it for them. What fixes are crucial, what are we willing to wait for? What features need focus and for what reasons? Priorities? Impact and hypothetical errors in features?
Stop screaming to daddy or the office janitor to fix everything. Take some ownership, eh? |

What we can do is steer them in the right direction when they take a wrong turn: cal logis, flaylocks, fused nades, murder-taxis, amarr logi, etc etc
While it's true in a practical sense, I would have to ultimately disagree. CCP has all these ideas in their heads about where they want to go and what they think that next step is. The problem is, we are taking the step and they are watching the reaction.
I believe this relationship should be deeper and that rather than being reactive we become proactive. What do we want to see in a month? 2 months? 2.0? A year?
To begin with, I see features like PC and FC having lots of potential for long-term growth, but initially a very confined experience.
Personally I believe the 2 features that need to be implemented are: - Secondary Market ---> Evolving value of ISK and the essence of universal player interaction. Very clear, numerical measures of inflation, unbalanced equipment, weapon popularity, etc. Lot's of value for everyone to look at. - Boarding Parties ----> Simple, small maps aboard ships spawned by a Eve Weapon, "pod-launcher". Time-sensitive missions with a chance of opposing PvP (if clones aboard)...engaging and vital opportunities to cause real problems and destruction in New Eden (even if only allowed in High and Low-sec). Also allows for a highly desirable feeling of depth and accomplishment along with a sense of unknown and exploration.
I am confident that if we could even get a basic version of this in 2 months, we could launch this game into unlimited potential. We become self-aware on the market and in a grander scheme, we become living ammo...and ammo sees a lot of action in New Eden. |
