I've been practicing. I'm better than I was when I started, but I'm still very terrible. Advice? |

Not even kidding, and no I have no affiliation with FPS Freek and that's not an amazon affiliate link. I bought a pair these and I love them. You'll instantly feel more precise because you get ~40% more range of motion on the control sticks. Unless you want to switch to KB/M, this is the best aim upgrade you can get.
Other than that? Practice. Practice until your fingers hurt. |

train yourself by using a single shot tac or burst rifle for a week or 2, then go back to normal AR and see how much you will have improved. |

Turn down the sensitivity on your x axis. That'll help you avoid over shooting the target.
Try not even using the right stick, just use the left to strafe your cross hairs over the target and fire then.
Try using a malitia heavy suit for awhile, simply so you live long enough that you get more aiming practice time. Or go a light suit and practice running away and getting around behind folk with a shotgun when they don't know you're there. |

This is actually a great way to improve your aim. Tried and tested |

When it comes to CQC your best aid is keeping a calm and level head. Learn to only shoot when you have the target in your crosshairs and not just holding down fire praying that some billets land. I can't tell you how many times I've killed people while they were reloading cause they weren't patient enough to let go of the trigger for a second.
Your best offense also comes down to positioning. Never engage yourself in a fight that you can't (a) take cover, or (b) run away from. I know it's clich+¬ but you gotta constantly be analyzing your surroundings. And don't be afraid to run away if you find yourself outmaneuvered. I have a 7.00+ KD and I manage it by knowing when to engage and when not to. Even if you're just going against 1 guy in a militia suit position can make the difference in you taking down 3 guys or you and your three guys getting shot down. The only way to practice this is knowing the maps and finding good positions for your play style. Don't over commit to any one location either. Soon as you find yourself in trouble find a different location to engage from.
Practice your hip fire! You shouldn't be aiming down your sights for someone 5 feet in front of you. Learn to strafe effectively in combat and you'll end up taking 50% less damage in encounters. Learn to strafe right: aim left, strafe left: aim right. Your target should be the center of a circle with you drawing a radius around him/her while engaging. NEVER stand still in CQC. If your trying to hit someone running at a distance, aim in hip fire at him, then aim your sights. Your turn speed is really slow while aiming down sights. Don't just hold down your trigger either, make every shot land and predict his/her movement.
Be unpredictable. Make the enemy think twice about what you're doing. For example I sometimes pretend like I'm running from a mob, and as soon as I slip behind a corner I turn around and pop the guy coming after me before running again. |

Like any FPS game, the only way to improve aim is to play everyday. Its a practice in muscle memory and hand/eye coordination.
The best advice I can get and aim before you shoot, especially in DUST, and don't get excited. Line up your hipfire crosshairs before you raise your gun.
Burst fire if you're using an automatic. And practice with semi-auto and burst fire weapons. There are no short cuts to good aim in any FPS. |

Get the FragFX Shark. It's half chuck controller and half mouse. The only reason I haven't quit this game is because of that.
I swear by this thing! The regular controller for infantry weapons sucks. I pity the people who say they can do great with one and that it is the only way to go. If you are that good with the regular Sony controller you are a mega console nerd. For the rest of us there is the FragFX.
I use the regular controller for tank/vehicles and installation cannons then I use the mouse to fine tune my aim. |

Check your in game settings, change the sensitivity to 80 &100. You may see a bit of a falloff in your aiming until you get used to the new settings but after that it should help you pick up precious seconds which can help your aim and performance.
Hope that helps
