Heres your problem, you think some of us dont talk to our real life friends, family or love interests like this. Maybe its where I live and how I grew up but thats normal. If someone cant take that then they arnt worth our friendship and we go on to rip on them more because we know it bothers them. Then we proceed to tell them to grow up because all words are in the end are words. |

Exacly! Im Canadian (far up north small town Canadian) and its constant dickish statements, thats just the way it is, we see liberals from the city come up here and suddenly they start having panic attacks from how we talk. Its ment to be offencive, but in a loving way, if you can talk back like that, all the more respect. |

I play videogames, I know what being friends with the princess gets you, nonstop missions to rescue her)
"c#nt" isnt used as a gender specific term in Aussieland, its used like "friend" or "buddy". |

They get the same **** from me that I deal to everyone. With that being said, constant personal harassment, and **** that's genuinely creepy that in no way could be considered casual internet talk, is a different story. Nobody wants to hear that the second people find out their voice regardless of gender or any other ****. Bottom line is, Don't cross the line and the line is so low you have to intentionally try to cross it.
I agree with the creepy part, but if they get offended by ones way of normal speaking even if its *******-ish they need to toughen up |

As I've previously stated, I don't expect the dust community to change their behavior. I'm simply saying that its not going to help us bring in women like my sister who enjoy shooters.
To those of you who say we shouldn't treat women any differently I have to disagree. Women are different from men and not just physically. Sure they don't want us to coddle them and treat them differently as a person while playing. Obviously I'm not asking that we go easier on them in the game or treat them like they're stupid when it comes to video games. All I'm asking is that we show a little decency when they are in our squads.
Tbh, I wouldn't mind if we were a little less crude and vulgar when women aren't around. I like to think I'm playing this game with a bunch of adults and not 10 year olds who just learned how to say the "F-word". However, I do think we could stand to make a special effort when women join our squad. As also previously stated, no doubt there are women out there (perhaps even our friends) who have a very low sense of self-worth. This shouldn't give us license to flash our childish behavior and conversations around other women who aren't impressed by this.
I know its kind of a cultural thing and true "manliness" is slowly falling by the wayside. No where have I noticed this more then in video game communities. If you are behind hearing this then by all means, ignore. I'm simply speaking to the men who like me, grow tired of the constant degradation of women in our talk, especially when they are present in our squads.
FYI, AnotherHeavy, this is not my main character. I am with EoN on my main. For the most part they have been pretty good but there is room for improvement. I don't want to leave the corp I'm in and there are several guys who I'd love for her to squad with. We squaded with some non-EoN guys last night who were making some obscene gay jokes and just generally talking trashy (different from trash-talking which is fine) so we left and tried to join another squad. Sometimes you have to take what you can get but that can at times be disastrous.
It sounds like you're overfeminised. Words are just that, words, if you get offended by them then you have the mentality of a teenager. Grownups talk how they like and can let others words wash over them without getting their feelings hurt. |
