I think that much of the current issue with LLAV and LAV murder taxis could be solved with the addition of Stasis Grenades that simply slows down Vehicles.
Let's say a 50-90% decrease in speed.
This way, whenever a fast vehicle moves to engage it has to COMMIT to that engagement. This threat could be neutralized by vehicles being supported by infantry (who screen possible grenade-throwers) and the logistics repping of vehicles cancelling, to a large extent, the effectiveness of the stasis web.
What do you guys think?
(YES, I realize this is a repost) |

I was just thinking of them being used with dedicated A/V suits that use their main offensive weapon as A/V damage and grenades as secondary. Although an equipment item makes just as much sense as a grenade |

While that would work, I was thinking of a grenade that would explode and leave an AOE effect (like the nanohive) in place and any vehicle moving through it would be webbed |

Say your Defending the Communications Outpost (Look in the Maps Feedback for a Picture of what it is), and a Scout Spots an Armor Convoy and a Pack of infantry Coming into the base, Plop down a Stasis webifier ( I think that its Equipment form should be like a Nanohive, only with a invisible Bubble), armor rolls through the gates, gets slowed to a Crawl, AV and Snipers ahoy!
Plas One to Stasis Webs as Equipment and Grenades
My thoughts exactly |

But the only time a tank would be close enough to a balanced stasis grenade would be if he strolled up within meters of a trooper. I don't see how it would be that big of a threat to tanks if the range was extremely limited. It would affect LAVs drastically more then tanks, as tanks don't ram people for their primary dps.
If the item were deployable like a nanohive would you still have this objection? |

I don't know if I'm reading you right but are you suggesting a 20% decrease in speed? That seems severely underpowered and incapable of defending yourself from a LAV barreling at you (which would be the primary entry-level purpose)
And how limited would the range be? Make it too low and a tank would annihilate you and an LAV wouldn't slow down fast enough to keep it within range, let alone stop it from running you over. Make it too high and you'd be grabbing people from cover.
On the contrary, an AOE deployable or grenade-based weapon CAN slow you down an enormous amount without being unbalanced. Since the vehicle is moving through it, as long as the AOE is restricted and the vehicle is slowed down instead of instantly stopped, the vehicle would pass through the field in a slow enough manner for you not to get rammed but fast enough to not be perma-crippled. Iinitial grenades would need to be supplemented by an additional grenades if the target had above minimal ehp. |

If the item were deployable like a nanohive would you still have this objection? yes, even bigger objection. btw i know how tanks think because i use one and i can get them to run over proxies. a nano hive wouldn't be hard. you have to see how this would work on other then your intended purpose.
Maybe I was unclear but I meant for the deployable object to still function like a grenade, activating upon deployment and then fading after a few seconds. Not working like a land mine.
How would it work other then the intended purpose like described? I must not be seeing it (sorry, it is late here) |
