This is a proposal for a voting system to be implemented so the community has a say in changes and minimize negative reception by at least letting them have their say during the conceptualization phase.
How to do it. 1. If you add a "PROPOSED CHANGES" label to the server sign in scene by the "NEWS" and "PATCH NOTES" labels it will work as an account bound voting platform. 2. On the PROPOSED CHANGES screen you can place selectable buttons that expand when selected giving details on the changes. 3. Give the player the following options: For (+1, ShowAgain = false), Against (-1, ShowAgain = false), Don't Care (0, ShowAgain = false), Ask Later (0, ShowAgain = true) 4. Set up a counter the proposal so there's feedback.
Intended use. This is supposed to be a method to get input from the majority of the player base without having to deal with distractions, such as arguing, trolling or ridicule.
So what do you think? |

Good idea but only one vote per poll for a ps account. |

Whoa, whoa, whoa... Developers wouldn't go for that for the simple reason the things they are incapable of correcting would consistently be voted. Or, they wouldn't offer it as a choice in the first place.
Bottom line is this. video games are a business. You run a business by making the most money possible without spending as much as possible. So long as people are buying into the game there is no reason to change anything, especially something they can't fix.
I have no doubt that CCP would love to build the best FPS out there, but they simply are incapable. Consumer expectations have grown so high, so fast, that smaller developers (let alone the biggest) can't keep up. DUST could use a tweak here and there, but overall its playerbase has to lower its expectations, because CCP can't cure cancer, heal the world, feed the starving, or save DUST.
Just enjoy it for what it is. It does have the free option. |

Well I know with unity3d this whole system can be implemented in a very short time period, less then a day for sure. I honestly didn't think it was that big of a request and think it would be beneficial to everyone. This is meant to be a way so they can get community feedback before they start changes.
And if you want to go the money route it could be easily altered to be a sort of kick starter pledge system that gives early access to new content for testing purposes. I doubt they'll do that though. |

Well damn, I figured that this would get more support. So what's the problem with this? |

The problems are
Trolling. Multiple PSN accounts. If you make it per I.P. address then shared systems are disenfranchised by default. Meta-gaming (everyone in Alliance X voted down something just because they could).

And the general lack of objectivity due to sampling bias and the danger of populism as with all democratic principles.
There's a reason for why real democracies are no longer direct almost everywhere in the world (don't make me pull a godwin for the worst example).

There's no need for this and CCP certainly don't need to ask our permission before they change anything. Most players have no understanding of the complexities of game design and even fewer are objective enough to support things that are good for the game instead of just catering to their own specific playstyle.
We have the forums and the CPM to represent the playerbase and multiple ways to communicate with CCP over things that we feel strongly about. One day there may well be an in-game voting system to elect new CPMs but that is as far as it should ever go. |
