The new dev blog talked about weapons being too powerful outside of their roles- but assault rifles were never mentioned for this.
I think it's still pretty damn obvious that ARs (plasma weapons!) are too good at long range. A handheld light plasma weapon can still somehow outrange 20gj blasters mounted on vehicles. |

The weapons should be like this....
Gallente AR - Short Range Amarr SCR/LR - Long Range Caldari Rail Rifle - Long Range Minmitar Combat Rifle - Medium Range And it will most likely be this way, when we get the missing weapons. When we got scrambler rifles, there was no reason for blaster rifles to stay the way they were. |

Now, are assault rifles OP? No, no they aren't. Do you have any clue how little damage we do at long range? I once shot a sniper for 4 seconds at long range... Then he took cover.
We do our job. Medium range general combat. Breach is actually pretty damn good if you hipfire and strafe like a ************. The one place where ARs are where they should be is in CQC- they're outclassed by SMGs, shotguns, knives, and HMGs in CQC, while the breach has a better chance than normal ARs. |

I can't believe people still think the viziam wasn't OP. I grant you it was nerfed into oblivion and it was only the viziam that needed fixed. But c'mon you must agree it needed balancing. The Viziam's stats were literally wrong, according to a dev. All they needed to do was correct them- not nerf the entire weapon class. |

- The tiny scrambler rifle range difference (lasers are meant to have far more range than blasters- which the AR is) is nothing
- Unless laser rifles are in the tiny "sweet spot" range, either ARs will outdamage them anyway, or the extremely steep laser dropoff will turn the laser into a garden hose
- ARs don't overheat
- Due to the map design being in favor of ARs, snipers are forced into either AR range, or an extremely stupid location with a tiny firing window.
- Again- ARs are more reliable than 20GJ blasters. Even with the change of range, you have to be in spitting distance to kill someone with a small blaster. And you wonder why LAV drivers go murder taxi.
- Scratch that- ARs are more reliable than ANY small turrets, save for AV capabilities, which small turrets suck at anyway.
