I thought it would be the other way around, but i guess i was wrong. The specialized suit have bonuses that give them an advantage over basic suit, so should they cost more than the basic suit
Basic suit: low sp, higher price
Specialized suit: higher sp, lower price
I'm just confused |

I thought the same exact thing when i first noticed that. I guess I was just pleasantly surprised and didn't think much else of it. |

Just my theory, but its probably something to do with the initial sp investment being significantly lower than the specialized. Lower bar of entry=higher per unit cost. Counter-intuitive from a real-world perspective, but likely a game balance decision. |

Yet on the infantry side basic is more typically the staple of newer players... those fellas with no ISK to start with who also have a load of skill books to buy which're already burning through their low supplies of ISK?

It pretty much admitts to the fact that the bonuses often lack concept and utility, using price as the primary incentive at first.
It makes the whole basic range of suits a "passing by" item no one has a reason to use once they specialized => wasted asssets.
Basic suits should cost less/the same and be weaker hybrids of their respective specializations. I have layed out months ago how unnecessarily hard it is for aspiring logis to do their job early on while assaults get a (at first) weak straight up improvement to basically the same suits. It's asinine for one and and outright hindering for the other role.
It's not exactly a catastrophy but a clear issue nonetheless.

I just use basic Heavy frames because the bonus on Sentinels is crap, and we don't have any other Heavy specializations yet 
All of the role bonuses are garbage. For every suit. They're unoriginal, uninteresting, and not nearly as useful as the 2.3 million SP you'll be flushing down the toilet to get it. |
