So I can understand getting rid of the free LAVs. You could get in one for free, spam the battlefield running people over, put on some remote explosives, throw it at a tank, majorly cripple it, yadda yadda. All for (mostly) free (the remote explosive might cost a bit).
Ok, we can't have that, I admit, but how are people suppose to get from A - B? I can imagine being a Heavy isn't great when you run out of ammo, and you have no nanohives left, and your team has none either. So, what do you do? You go to the supply depot. But with no ammo, how are you suppose to defend yourself? And with how slow you move, you can't run and dodge your way there. You call out a vehicle. But with all your SP gone into heavies, you can't get a good one, and if you could get one, you have to spend ISK you hardly have and don't want to waste, and how people jump off with your car, thats a real problem. So... you just lay there and die.
Do you see the problem? We don't need some vehicle that can attack, thats why we got tanks. We won't need an airship for support, thats why we have Dropships, and we don't need free kill death taxi buggies (pretty much at all, their game breaking for good players as with the flaylock), we need a transporter. |

CCP showed off hover bikes at fanfest as well as MAV troop transports so looks like we'll be getting designated transport vehicles around winter or next spring. |

Militia LAV costs a few thousand ISK, LAV Lvl1are a few thousand SP more and cost 40000k + mods. Where is the problem?

First off, a heavy who ran off by himself to get kills and subsequently ran out of ammo should not expect that the CCP gods are just gonna bestow him/her some form of transport just because.
Second, there's many alternatives to LAVs. I for one specced into Cardiac Regulators and put an enhanced one on my fits. I can now pretty much sprint indefinitely or whenever I need it, as well as being able to jump over railings or what have you at a whim.
There's no such thing as a free lunch. |

Being realistic, I wouldn't hold my breath for those, we're still in July after all. Those hover bikes and MAVs were just concept art works. With the change to shorter dev cycles and the potential of a new exec producer coming on board priorities and timelines may have been changed.
In the short term, use LAVs and recall them to avoid losing ISK unnecessarily. |
