What gives you hope for this game? Enough hope to keep playing, I mean. Is it a person? A group of people? A place? An event? What is it?
For me, it was a single match of Domination. Let me explain.
I was in my own squad, as I often times do, since I have that luck where I join a squad that has a leader that doesn't use the OB when we have the points. We were getting beat down badly. They were holding A from the beginning and it was looking dim for us. One of our comrades made it to the point- one of many attempts, unfortunately- and was hacking. Naturally, I was moving in to give what support I could. Gallentean using his race's medium armor, armor tanking. I was rather slow, but not as slow as a heavy.
I met two enemies down the way, the two of them standing at the end of the pathway. Them, my comrade, and me. I opened fire on them. Two Assault wearing users. I could tell they had invested skill into shields and armor. They returned fire, of course. The ally succeeds in hacking and runs out- shredded. I could tell he was wearing light by how quickly he was snuffed. My shield goes out in an instant. Fifty percent armor. It was looking rough. So very rough. At this point, I was just buying time. If I could just buy enough time for the upload, my death won't be in vain. Right?
Twenty-five percent armor. They both move out of cover. Moving in for the kill.
Next thing I realize, two heavies come up behind me and the roar of HMG from the two of them was sweet music. A scout had moved around and flanked the enemy from the rear. Both of my almost-killers are utterly destroyed. "Upload complete." was heard just moments after. I was emotional. Honestly, I was.
The cherry on top for me, the thing that really did it for me, was a logistic wearing coming up to me and patching my armor.
This moment- this single short moment- fuels hope from me for this game.
If I hadn't of been there, the hack would of more than likely failed. If the trio that became my heroes weren't there, I would of surely fell there. One soldier can change the tide of battle, comrades. Every one of us counts for the fight. Have faith.
By the way, we won that game. Every time they even tried the hack, we'd swarm in.
What gives you hope?

you good sir, found that golden nugget that made me fall in love with New Eden years ago. it doesnt always happen, in fact, its pretty rare, but every once in a great long while, something truely magical happens. and you know your a citizen of this universe, for better or worse, forever. You can take me out of New Eden, but you'll never take New Eden out of me. |

Here, here.
I usually keep to space, but it's the small moments down on the planets that keep bringing me back to the ground, regardless of kill or death, of win or loss. |

In all seriousness what gives me hope is the one time a newbie fresh from the academy asked for a lift and together we hacked all the objectives while I blasted the enemy back with covering fire from the air. that was a great match |

What gives me hope for this game? CCP/CPM
CCP didn't earn my admiration by making good games. They didn't earn it through flashy marketing gimmicks or rebooting my favorite genre. They earned my admiration by making a game and asking for my honest feedback, then responding to it in kind. And that means more to me then ****** controls or a constantly-beta attitude because I know whatever I don't like about this game, given enough time, will be made into something great. And when they **** up they don't just push it under the rug - the famous Hilmar apology showed they could own up to their playerbase when needed. And for that CCP will have my feedback, support, and money for all their games.
Trying out this game I was pissed at getting killed by unbalanced weapons, tanks, etc. and got on the forums to add my two cents. Then I happened to stumble upon the CPM subforum. Seeing the feedback from these dedicated players for a game in its infancy really inspired me to keep playing. What I saw wrong about the game they seemed to be championing, and that's what makes the CPM and the CCP-player relationship great. |

To the OP, its moments like this that make me play day after day. The co-ordination of a group of people working together to achieve a goal is where the fun is at. Getting fire from all quarters and managing to survive and feel the warm glow of a logibro for the hardwork we have done to secure a point.

Well Thankyou kind sir. It'll probably take another week or two of writing to finish (at the pace I'm going). I'm in no rush. |

OP: That is the kind of special nugget that keeps me coming back, too.
In one game I was playing I did something that I thought would go unnoticed, but we snipers try to do every time we go out.
A similar story to the OP.
It was near the end of a game and my team was down, but not by much. I was on a hill overlooking an objective and another sniper on my team was a few meters from me. We were not on comms and weren't in the same corp.
Our team held half of the objectives, the one I was overlooking had been recently taken by a brave blueberry. He ran to the objective in the face of several healthy reds. A sniper beside me and I helped him get to the objective by stripping armour and shields from the reds attacking him. We buried some of the reds, too.
But they had a drop uplink close by and they kept respawning.
Then my nanohive gave out.
It was so cool. We worked as a team, that other sniper and I. One red after another was getting shredded and our brave buddy hacked away steadily. His armour was low and his shields were gone. I'm sure he was filling his drop suit.
Then a third sniper from our team began shooting at the reds and they dropped quickly.
His hack done, our hacker split for the nearest cover, dodging and weaving. He dropped into a crouch behind cover but he was still in range of the reds.
The reds tried to charge the objective and two of the reds went after our hero.
My fellow snipers and I kept him covered and kept the reds from counter hacking the objective.
I looked up at the MCC armour and ours was stronger than the red MCC.
Then the cavalry arrived. A few of our heavies showed up and our heroic hacker, who had recovered his shields, was able to exit the field.
We won by about three ticks.
My war-whoop was so loud, my wife came in to see what was wrong.
It was sweet and rare and everything this game should be.
