I decided to use a profile dampener, kinetic catalyzer, range amplifier and profile precision module. All these were militia grade. They replaced the enhanced shield extender, 2 enhanced armor plates and standard shield rep I usually run...
Folks the results were stunning. I was literally going right past enemies and they didn't even see me. It was luder! Plus my modules for detection practically gave my guy x-ray vision.
It all makes sense now! The 2 extra eyes are not for controlling drones, no, they are futuristic night vision goggles, just like they guy in Splinter Cell had. Why 4 instead of 3? Because it's the future and 4 eyed night vision goggles exist! Also, the suit is very similar looking to the crisis suits. Crisis is known as a stealth game, complete with cloak. Also, CUP has said that they want Shields to give a bigger profile. A suit that does not allow for heavy shields would be ideal for stealth. Gallante made Nova Knives. That screams Ninja! = Stealth! AR's are suppose the least range of all rifles, so CQC, where all the stealth mods are really needed. Plus, what is the point of giving us 3 low slots anyhow? Not for armor, I'll say that much.
It is without a doubt in my mind that the Gallante Assault suit is for stealth play, not the Armor tanking suit everyone thinks it is. |

So how come ive got level 3 in all the dampening/ precision skills with advanced Precision enhancers and dampeners on there, and it seems people still see me? |

For me it makes a noticeable, but small, difference. The SP I've put into the sensor skills has not provided much bang for the buck with my suit radius only having a 10m scan range. But to me, situational awareness is key, and it's how I like to play as a scout. Low and slow in recon mode. Fast when spotted.
The Gallente suit will always be my primary, even though the Minmatar seems more practical with it's better slot balance, and higher base shields.
I've got profile dampening, scan precision and scan range all skilled to L5. Plus, may Gallente suit is skilled to L3. I run the dragonfly Gallente scout suit for 95% of my game time, only breaking out the more expensive ADV suit if I really need the extra advantage or I'm in a particularly aggressive mood.
Module wise, my recon setup is just an enhanced range amplifer (+35% extra range), militia armor repper, and militia shield extender. That takes my base range with my skills to (10 base *1.5 range skill L5 *1.3 scout skill L3 *1.35 module) = 26.3m. Even taking Gallente base scan precision to 12 or 15 meters would help IMMENSELY for my playstyle.
N - we've played together. In the run and gun situation, with a lot of assaults around and enemies showing up on radar because others are getting line of sight on them, the scan skills are just wasted SP. I'd be better served using that 3M SP or whatever on my weapon skills (of which I have none).
However, when I'm in recon mode it's easier to see people approaching me when I'm hacking than it was a few months ago, and playing cat and mouse is easier with the better range as I can 'see' people through walls, installations, etc.... they have to be close though. Like closer than 15M - 18M or so if I am not running my recon suit..... which I don't run too often because I prefer to have an armor repper and a kin/cat (or) stamina mod in my low slots.

The question is: will you?
To compete with a scout suit you'd need to only put one module on for scan precision since the base logi scan precision is 50 v.s. 45 for the scout. You only need a 10% decrease there to bring yourself into line. You'll need 1 complex range extender to get (close enough) to the scan range of the gallente scout suit (with it's 50% racial bonus). Another one (or two) for the profile dampening to overcome the scout suit profile dampening plus suit bonus.
Now, do you want to also run as fast as a scout? You'll need 2-3 kin/cats for that. Say 2.
Do you also want to approach scout endurance? You'll need a stamina module.
Now you've used 4/5 low slots (of which you have 4?) and 1 high. Still, all around - the logi suit is hard to beat. I almost decided to make a logi/scout....

Whats the magic range number to shoot for? 33m or 50m? 22.5m seems like ill still get dropped by AR fire, 33 sounds good (3s+ to notice sprinting minja), and 50m seems excessive for the extra low slot.
Also, whats the null cannon and CRU precision threshold? Ive been getting a LOT fewer spawn-in deaths after reaching gallente 5 (25%+ dampening bonus). Other scouts should require more than 2 basic precision enhancers to spot me now and at ~34db im below the scanning precision of most active scanners.
Is getting spotted by LOS a problem you run into? My problems seem to be terrain, aFGs, and flaylock ballerinas. |

I actually use a logi scout from time to time, remote explosives and uplinks as equipment and as a minmatar logi also fast hacking capabilities, you need to use enhanced kinkats an cardiac regulators though.
but the speed and stamina of my minatar scout is addictive though. I have the scout at advanced and the logi at proto. |

As soon as I put the kabosh, on my Gal logi (very few things left to skill now) I am going strait into Gal light (mostly for the pilot suit but...). I would also like to hear from pro Gal scout users about whether or not the scanning/dampening is functioning properly.
Thank you in advance. |

No point, more shields the larger your radius, so the Dampeners wouldn't really be doing anything. |

Heh, it's a nice story and idea but the reality means it's all pretty pointless.
Profile and precision only affect your passive scanning, which has a tiny radius even on maxed out scout suits.
CCP confirmed a while back that shields do not affect your profile.
LOS negates all stealth tactics, so you have to always come from out of sight and all the enemy has to do is suddenly turn when you're still 50m out and you're done for.
All these things need fixing before stealth can be an even vaguely playable style. |

Hopefully, cloacks will nagate the LOS problems, in future iteration of any assassin build. But yes, you are quite right. Currently LOS makes trying to play any kind of stealth build impossible, when all your opponent has to do is keep their head on a swivel, which, if you're any kind of player who is worth their salt, you do this constantly anyway. |
